THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD2524P01 and is part of the TN ARMY National Guard.

Duties

As an IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), GS-2210-11, you will conduct audits of information systems compliance, to include network devices; servers; and end user devices, related to security standards, guides and application updates to enable and ensure accreditation of all systems IAW with all command, Army, and DOD security directives, policies and procedures. Review Army Training and Certification Tracking System, approves new user accounts, and conducts ongoing audits to ensure all privileged and user accounts comply with Army Standards. Conduct investigation of security incidents, reports findings to leadership and remediates findings based on guidance from the cybersecurity service provider and IAW with all command, Army, and DOD security directives, policies and procedures to include: computer viruses and sanitation of highly classified information from organization. Review submissions to Change Configuration Board, or other bodies proposing changes, to network or information systems and applications and makes recommendations to senior cybersecurity team lead. Maintain an operational knowledge base of past, current and possible future threats to the security posture by attending courses, conferences, seminars, online research, and information sharing between other Cybersecurity/Information Assurance professionals. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • Applicant must complete a Baseline Pre-Placement Screening for General Schedule positions within 30 days of appointment.
  • Acceptance of a Federal position may terminate Tricare Reserve Select eligibility.
  • For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
  • Position is designated as PR-VAM-001 within the Defense Cybersecurity Workforce as guided by NIST SP 800-181; National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education, Cybersecurity Workforce Framework.
  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments
  • For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed.
  • Incumbent must complete appropriate training IAW DoDI 8140 or DOD 8570.01M or applicable governing document(s) for Cyber workforce as an IA Technician Level within 9 months of employment pending training seat availability.
  • SEC+ is required for this position and Network access and therefore mandatory to qualify.

Qualifications

Military Grades: E-5 through O-4

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience that includes managing, supervising, leading, administering, developing, delivering, and supporting information technology (IT) systems and services; experience or knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods, e.g., data storage, software applications, networking.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 24 months or 1-year at the next lower grade of specialized experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization; experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls; experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment; experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion.
