QA Engineer - W2 Contract

We are seeking a Senior QA Engineer to join our team in Mundelein, IL. This role is responsible for collaborating with development teams and business stakeholders to perform manual and automated testing based on business requirements. The Senior QA Tester will design, execute, and maintain test plans, automation scripts, and test data to ensure delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Major Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and maintain test cases, automation scripts, and other test artifacts.
• Provide test estimations and perform peer reviews of test cases.
• Analyze business and technical requirements to create detailed test cases and test plans.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing for .NET web applications and SQL Server-based components.
• Execute test plans and manage activities to ensure objectives are met and solutions function as expected.
• Validate deliverables by identifying, documenting, and reviewing issues with business stakeholders before production release.
• Perform testing for functionality, automation, performance, load/stress, reliability, and compatibility with external/legacy systems.
• Maintain metrics on testing progress, bug fixing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Test data integrity and accuracy through database queries, stored procedures, and ETL workflows.
• Assess and document the impact of software defects.
• Ensure deliverables meet functional and design specifications.
• Use appropriate testing tools and follow enterprise standards.
• Maintain test artifacts in test management tools (e.g., Jira Zephyr).
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers for issue resolution.
• Actively participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives).
• Test web services using tools such as REST, SoapUI, and Postman.

Minimum Job Requirements

Education:

• BS/BA degree or equivalent experience in software testing.

Experience:

• 8+ years of experience designing and executing test cases.
• Hands-on experience with test case management tools (Jira Zephyr, ALM, etc.).

Skills & Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile).
• Ability to translate business/technical requirements into functional test plans.
• Proficiency in testing databases and ETL workflows.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
