Scope

In this role as a Data and Analytics Lead - R&D Innovation, your top priority will be to enable efficient and data-driven execution of Life Science Strategy, including key initiatives on Portfolio Leadership and Operational Excellence. Strong individual leadership (no direct reports), but project-based coordination of cross-functional teams primarily in analytics, strategy, controlling, project management, ISCO. You will have a high level of internal cooperation across functions, primarily with ACE, Innovation Project Management, Controlling, IT, Strategy, R&D with occasional interaction with external technology vendors and benchmark providers like Gartner. Part of your responsibilities are:
  • Product Owner for LS Innovation KPI Dashboard: define vision and strategy in alignment with CTO and key stakeholders; collaborate with cross-functional teams including ACE, Controlling, Innovation PMO, Strategy and CTO; prioritize and manage dashboard backlog; provide training and support to end-users; lead continuous improvement and dashboard upgrades including automation
  • Data Analytics: collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze data on LS R&D portfolio, metrics and KPIs in preparation for CTO team and executive meetings including Life Science Technology Leadership Board, Life Science Innovation Board, LSET and R&D Committee of the Board of Partners
  • Strategic Initiatives: act as data & business analytics SME; identify and analyze quantitative information (Merck internal and external benchmarks) to enable data-driven decision-making in strategic initiatives such as Portfolio Leadership, Operational Excellence, and Technology Road-mapping
  • Continuous Innovation: explore and deploy new tools to augment and streamline the above responsibilities, including Merck's Accolade, MyGPT Suite and UPTIMIZE, and Gartner's solutions

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering or Business
  • At least 5 years of experience with Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Market Intelligence, or other related field enabling data-driven decision-making in a corporate environment
  • At least 2 years of domain experience to Life Science or Healthcare industry (as employee or consultant)
  • Data-driven mindset to enable both strategic and operational decisions
  • Data analytics: proficient in analyzing internal & external data sets (financials, marketing, metrics, KPIs)
  • Data-driven storyline: proficient in "telling the story" supported in data, including the right adaptation of message & data visualization to audiences with different seniority level
  • Product Ownership: familiar with Product Owner role (Agile Framework) and it's responsibilities
  • Stakeholder management: ability to efficiently collaborate and occasionally manage (on project basis) stakeholders from multiple functions

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in quantitative field like Computer Science, Data / Business Analytics or MBA
  • Experience in consulting industry (In-House or External) is a plus

This position requires an onsite weekly presence in our Burlington, MA office. We offer a hybrid flexible work arrangement.
