Pay Rate: $75.00 to $80.00 per hr.

We're seeking a highly experienced Program Manager to lead mission-critical workstreams within our client's most strategic initiative: R2 - Core Deposit System Modernization. These roles will drive transformation across multiple platforms (e.g., payments, deposits, credit card systems), working directly with senior leadership and technical teams to deliver results on time and at scale.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Lead complex, high-visibility programs tied to R2, our core banking transformation.
  • Engage daily with executive stakeholders, including senior leaders (e.g., Dan Massey, Scott Watkins, Mark Croson).
  • Oversee and collaborate with Scrum Masters and Agile development teams to ensure metrics-driven delivery (velocity, throughput, cycle time, etc.).
  • Manage cross-functional priorities, competing timelines, and technical interdependencies with adaptability and strong decision-making.
  • Utilize tools like JIRA to drive Agile execution, reporting, and continuous improvement.
  • Serve as the central escalation point for program risks, issues, and capacity/resource challenges.
  • Foster alignment across Infrastructure, App Dev, and other technical teams.
Required Skills:
  • 7-10 years of program management experience in large-scale, complex technology initiatives.
  • PMP Certification - Required.
  • Bachelor's degree in business management or a related field - Required.
  • Experience in core banking, financial systems transformation, or other high-complexity fintech environments.
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Strong Agile delivery knowledge and team performance metric tracking.
  • Demonstrated experience working with executive-level stakeholders and managing high-stakes negotiations.
  • Deep understanding of technical environments - App Dev, IT Infrastructure, DevOps - and the ability to connect technical needs with business outcomes.
  • Master's degree - Preferred.
  • Located in Birmingham, AL, and able to work a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite) starting Day 1
Bonus Skills:
  • Expertise in stakeholder communications, risk mitigation, and working across matrixed teams.
  • Contract-to-hire mindset - looking for long-term career opportunities with full-time conversion targeted in 2026.
