Founded 33 years ago, Allied Consultants is an Austin-based firm and premier provider of technical and business staffing solutions for the State of Texas. We are currently seeking an experienced Network Engineer to be a key resource on a technical services team for our client, Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
**Location: In office and field work, 5 days a week. **
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and control computer networks and related computing environments together with structures software, programs software, hardware, and configurations
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software, hardware, and other network and system problems
- Monitor overall network performance.
- Configuration of routing, switching, and firewalls.
- Support the operation of all internal and wide area networks
- Install, and support all network hardware and firmware
- Interact with members of the networking team, other ITD staff, Austin staff, internal and external entities
- Interact with State of Texas 3rd party providers (DIR/Atos) and vendors
- Strong ability and focus on network troubleshooting and resolution
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
Minimum (Required):
- 4 years experience with complex and multiplatform telecommunications networks
- Demonstrated understanding of network technologies and protocols (Ethernet/Fast-Ethernet/Gigabit Ethernet/DSL/Fiber)
- Experience implementing and maintaining network technologies in a mixed vendor environment
- Knowledge with network perimeter security, VPN tunnels (Ikev1/IkeV2) and CJIS data security awareness to includes CJI polices
- Knowledge pertaining to Wide Area Connected Remote Sites (T1/Ethernet/AVPN/Dedicated Ethernet/Dedicated Internet/LTE)
- Knowledge with Microwave bridges (configuration/monitoring/installation/upkeep)
- Knowledge with end-user network security and access technologies (Fire Sight/Sourcefire/Advanced Malware Protection/URL Filtering)
- Knowledge with network protocols OSPF/BGP/IP/DHCP/ARP and troubleshooting with packet sniffers
- Knowledge with multi-platform network integrated systems (Microsoft Active Directory/Security Groups)
- Knowledge pertaining to all aspects of Local Area Network connections to include: VLAN/Port Aggregation/802.1x/ (Layer 1 Cat5/Cat5e/Cat6e cabling and termination/SM-MM Fiber/SFP/LC-SC-ST Fiber connectors and connectivity)
- Knowledge pertaining to authentication (AAA) protocols: TACACS+/RADISAML
- Knowledge pertaining to Integrated Services Engine/PxGrid/Access and Posture Policies
- Knowledge pertaining to Cellular services and technologies for remote network access and augmentation
- Knowledge pertaining to IPsec/GRE Tunnels
- Knowledge with Data Encryption/Access-Lists/Route-Maps and Get VPN
Preferred (Optional):
- 4 years of Bachelor s degree in Information Technology or Information Systems preferred
