Location: Carson City, Nevada (Hybrid 2 to 3 days/week in the office)

Job Description:

Selected candidates will work on a project team implementing a new, statewide Voter Registration system for use by county election officials and the Secretary of State's Elections Division. In the As-Is state, every one of Nevada's seventeen counties owns and operates their own Voter Registration System. These systems also support Election Management functions, and they integrate with numerous other systems at the county and the state level. The solution implemented will replace multiple, legacy systems in both the counties and the state. This project is expected to require multiple years to complete.

This position is part of the Voter Registration and Election Management Solution (VREMS) project that has the goal of putting in place a centralized statewide voter registration database and supporting the connection of election management systems located in counties throughout the state to that database for secure and accurate elections. This position would be responsible for the transition of the data on the current county systems to the new and any conversion within. The position will also be responsible for optimizing any queries or stored procedures as well as automating any repeatable tasks.

As a Quality Assurance Analyst on this project, you can expect to be tasked with some, all or none of the following activities:

  • Business analysis and requirements gathering: Interview key stakeholders in order to document and prioritize fixes and enhancements needed for product go live.
  • Test Case creation: Ability to create detailed test cases based on internal and external user feedback.
  • Test Execution: Execute test cases to identify defects, ensure functionality, and verify that the software meets quality standards.
  • Defect Tracking: Document and track defects, issues, and deviations from project specifications. Work closely with project team to troubleshoot and resolve identified issues.
  • Regression Testing: Perform regression testing to ensure that new software versions or updates do not adversely affect existing functionality.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including vendors, product managers, and business analysts, to communicate testing progress, issues, and recommendations.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain documentation related to testing processes, test cases, and testing results.
  • Testing Tools: Familiarity with testing tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, and others.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and convey testing results and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: Thorough attention to detail to ensure comprehensive test coverage and accurate defect reporting.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements, priorities, and timelines.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Election Domain Knowledge: Preferred but not required.

The candidate will need to provide their own workstation/laptop and the requirements are below:

Minimum requirements:

  • At least 8gb of RAM but preferably 16gb.
  • Ethernet port or provide the adapter for ethernet port.
  • Fast processor such as i5 or equivalent.
  • Solid State Drive as main hard drive.
  • Windows 10 Pro license upgradeable to Windows 11 Pro (agency may require the upgrade during the tenure, but will not be providing the Windows 11 license).
  • If the candidate wishes to connect to multiple extra monitors, please provide a compatible docking station with DisplayPort capability (agency will provide extra DisplayPort monitors).
  • Windows 10/11 compatible headset (we recommend wired connection for reliability).
  • Any accessibility accessories (ergonomic mouse, keyboard, etc.).
