General Summary:
Under general direction, plans, develops, and implements the Agency's local and wide server infrastructure in area
of assignment; installs, configures, maintains, and administers Agency servers to ensure the availability of services;
coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, departments, and outside agencies; troubleshoots and resolves
server related errors, issues, and warning messages as needed; and performs technical support duties to assigned
area of responsibility ensuring quality of work meets the standards set forth by the Agency.
Essential Functions:
Addressing vulnerabilities flagged by monthly infosec scans.
Developing documentation and protocols to rectify infosec-identified vulnerabilities.
Ensuring accurate network hardware records in SolarWinds by updating information promptly.
Configuring TACACS, NTP, SNMP, and management IP settings for all deployed hardware across field
locations.
Managing incident tickets promptly and effectively.
Handling service requests from IT Business Partners and Agency customers, including server setups, OS and
application troubleshooting, access requests, and assisting with server-related tasks for other
departments.
Undertaking server system administration duties, including performance monitoring, account security
management, application and user management, and identifying and addressing security risks.
Administering and upkeeping Active Directory (AD) security groups, ensuring appropriate access to critical
systems, conducting AD cleanup, and establishing procedures for AD object management.
Deliverables:
As a network engineer, the contractor will be tasked with a variety of critical responsibilities to uphold the security,
reliability, and effectiveness of our IT infrastructure. This includes promptly addressing any vulnerabilities
uncovered in our monthly security scans and crafting thorough documentation and procedures to swiftly resolve
any identified issues. The contractor will also play a key role in maintaining accurate records of our network
hardware in SolarWinds, as well as configuring vital protocols like TACACS, NTP, SNMP, and management IP
settings across all deployed hardware in diverse field locations. Handling incident tickets and service requests in a
timely and efficient manner will be a secondary priority, as the contractor collaborates with IT Business Partners
and Agency customers.

Education &
Experience:
Associate degree in computer science/information technology, or closely related field and
three years of network engineering experience in the deployment, design,
troubleshooting, and administration of network systems; OR an equivalent combination of
education and experience.

Qualifications,
Knowledge, and
Skills:
Hard charging, dedicated learner, and determined networking technologist
3 + years Juniper firewall, routers and switches. Cisco routers, firewalls, and
switches.
2+ years FortiGate, F5, and Cisco wireless controller experience
3+ years' experience troubleshooting and remediating issues in a complex Network
Enterprise environment.
o Knowledge of local and wide area networking engineering (switching,
routing, BGP, OSPF, Firewall, Load Balancing) theory and technologies.
o Knowledge of IP addressing, network protocols, technologies, and VPN
configurations associated with LAN/WAN networks.
Network scripting experience to perform automation: Rancid, Ansible, Python
o Automation: Network configuration management, discovery and inventory
management, security and compliance monitoring, monitoring and
troubleshooting
Working knowledge of SolarWinds Real-time and trend monitoring for network
infrastructure.
Awareness of security best practices for server and storage environments,
including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management.
Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve server and storage-related
issues efficiently.
Effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to collaborate with cross
functional teams are essential. Additionally, a proactive approach to learning new
technologies and staying updated with industry trends is highly valued.
