Senior Software Development Engineer

Job Description

Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug cloud microservices for OCI's IoT service.

This is a senior level position in software development with a heavy emphasis on software design and coding. The individual will serve as as a technical lead for new projects and work to scale existing tools/services to support our high-performance IoT data service. This role requires hands-on software development of microservices using a combination of Java and PL/SQL. The ideal candidate will be able to work in both Java and PL/SQL with equal comfort.

This individual will become a cross-component generalist and be intimately familiar with each microservice and their interactions. They will utilize their cross-component knowledge to take ownership of end-to-end feature development, assist other microservice owners to accelerate development and release of time critical features. Candidates must be willing to become comfortable with all aspects of cloud service delivery including development, test development, Q/A and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Candidates must have demonstrated competency in the following:

• 15+ years of experience in software development and cloud architecture
• 10+ years of experience in developing large scale distributed services / applications
• Experience building and deploying cloud-native PaaS services in multi-tiered architectures
• Proficiency with Object-Oriented programming in Java (JDK 17/21 required)
• Experience with PL/SQL and Oracle Database (23ai preferred)
• Experience in microservice development on a public cloud platform (micronaut/helidon preferred)
• Experience with containers and cloud native components
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Must be willing to work on-site in an Oracle office

Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Helidon and/or Micronaut frameworks

• OCI Certifications: Data Foundations, Architect, Networking or Security
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, BitBucket
• Experience and understanding of cloud infrastructure services, regions, and multi-AD designs
• Building CI/CD pipelines with robust testing and deployment schedules
• Experience implementing cloud security best practices

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $96,800 to $251,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
