The position sits within a collaborative team environment that manages the end-to-end design workflow for distribution projects, resource allocation, and data tracking through enterprise asset management systems. The selected individual will report to a local department supervisor and collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and field crews. They will oversee daily coordination of customer requests, scheduling of resources, and workload distribution across assigned design personnel. This includes managing calendars, tracking work orders, and supporting outage response initiatives when necessary. The role is highly communication-driven, requiring consistent interaction with both customers and internal stakeholders to maintain operational efficiency and meet project deadlines.

Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience coordinating or scheduling resources within construction, maintenance, or utility operations

  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with multiple levels of the organizational structure, including management, engineers, and field personnel
  • Experience applying company or departmental policies to customer service or work order processes
  • Ability to serve on emergency or Storm Response Teams and support outage restoration activities when required

Preferred Skills (Not Required):
  • Working knowledge of Maximo (asset management system)
  • Familiarity with AM/FM–DFM systems—Automated Mapping/Facilities Management and Distribution Facilities Management, which are Geographic Information System (GIS)-based tools used to map and manage utility infrastructure such as power lines, transformers, and substations
  • Knowledge of GDT (Geographic Data Technology), Storm Assist (storm response and outage management platform), Power BI (business analytics and data visualization tool), CCS (Customer Care System), or other data and visualization applications
  • Understanding of Distribution Line construction, maintenance practices, and materials
  • Prior experience in an electric utility, energy, or infrastructure project coordination role

Day to Day/Responsibilities:
  • Contact external customers within one business day of receiving a service request to schedule appointments with design personnel and gather required project information
  • Interpret and communicate company policies related to service requests, ensuring customers understand necessary steps and timelines to receive service
  • Assign and balance workload among design resources by maintaining a clear geographic distribution of projects, ensuring optimal utilization of each designer’s schedule
  • Monitor designer calendars daily to coordinate customer meetings, adjust for changes, and maximize appointment efficiency
  • Maintain consistent communication with designers to confirm scheduling, address project-specific questions, and provide updates on customer requests
  • Collaborate with Network Line crews to expedite work orders or resolve issues impacting service delivery timelines
  • Supervise and support activities performed by the Design Coordinator Clerk, and provide office support coverage as needed
  • Identify and resolve the root cause of customer complaints or inquiries by gathering relevant information, analyzing issues, and implementing corrective actions
  • Utilize Maximo and AM/FM–DFM systems to manage design and construction data, update project backlogs, and track progress within the Distribution Engineering Department
  • Conduct regular reviews of backlog data in Maximo, identifying deficiencies or inconsistencies, analyzing alternatives, and recommending corrective solutions
