Job Details

Milwaukee County is seeking a motivated Network Analyst I to join our Infrastructure Services team. This is a fully onsite role located at the Milwaukee County Zoo. The selected candidate will play a key role in documenting wireless infrastructure, mapping network components, and supporting technical inventory across the zoo grounds.

  • Hands-on experience with wireless networks and network infrastructure

  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills

  • Ability to work independently and proactively ask questions

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Comfortable engaging with non-technical business stakeholders

  • Strong presentation skills and attention to detail

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scout and map wireless infrastructure across all zoo buildings

  • Create a detailed inventory of devices including product type, model, vendor, and location

  • Capture and maintain image-based documentation of installed technologies

  • Review existing network diagrams and validate IP schemes, configurations, and connectivity

  • Identify and document application and device dependencies (e.g., JCI Gateway, POS systems)

  • Support ongoing maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and other equipment

  • Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve network-related issues

  • Ensure high network performance, security, and uptime

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

  • 1 3 years of experience in computer networking and infrastructure

  • Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP), wireless technologies, and basic network monitoring tools

  • Understanding of routers, switches, wireless systems, VPN, DHCP, DNS, and firewalls

  • Ability to work from heights or confined spaces (e.g., ceilings, wiring closets)
