We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Automotive Trainer to lead training classes for dealership personnel and internal employees. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, prior hands-on experience with automotive repair, and a passion for developing and delivering engaging, effective training programs. This role is critical to ensuring quality vehicle repairs and enhancing overall customer satisfaction through education and support.
The Technical Automotive Trainer is responsible for conducting technical training courses and assisting in the development of technical curricula. The role involves working closely with technical departments, maintaining training resources, and ensuring that training content reflects the latest technologies and practices.
Responsibilities
- Deliver technical training sessions aligned with established curriculum and instructional standards.
- Uphold brand values and professionalism when representing the training program.
- Assist in the development and continuous improvement of training materials by staying current with product updates and technical resources.
- Design and build training aids to enhance instructional effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate training records within the Learning Management System (PALMS).
- Participate in the creation and delivery of technician certification tests (practical and written).
- Maintain and repair vehicles used for training and ensure readiness for use.
- Keep the training facility clean, organized, and equipped to the highest standards.
- Evaluate vehicles for training purposes and assist with product familiarization.
- Provide regular reports on training outcomes and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Support technical departments across the organization as needed.
- Adhere to IT security policies and ensure confidentiality of business and technical information.
Qualifications
- College degree or certificate in Automotive Technology.
- ASE Master Technician, including L1 required.
- 6-8 years of hands-on mechanical automotive experience (Porsche experience required).
- Prior experience conducting or developing technical training preferred.
- Experience with 3D software, photogrammetry, and Classic repairs is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident public speaker and effective presenter.
- Deep technical understanding of automotive systems and repair techniques.
- Highly organized, proactive, and self-directed.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat.
- Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, InDesign) is a plus.
- German language skills are a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving demands.
- Frequent use of computers, phones, and other office and shop equipment.
- Exposure to mechanical noise, vibration, and airborne particles in a shop environment.
- Regular standing, sitting, talking, hearing, reaching, and handling of tools or parts.
- Occasional lifting and moving of items weighing 50+ lbs.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and work effectively in a noisy or open-office setting.
Additional Details
The base range for this contract position is $45-55/per hour, depending on experience.
Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered.
