Senior Windows Engineer
This hands-on role involves analyzing complex system requirements, designing optimized solutions, and maintaining secure, high-performance infrastructure. Responsibilities include technical standard development, product evaluation, vendor coordination, and cross-team collaboration to resolve system and application issues.
The company is located in Reston, VA and will be a hybrid model.

Responsibilities include technical standard development, product evaluation, vendor coordination, and cross-team collaboration to resolve system and application issues.

What You Will Be Doing:
- Design, implement, and document SAS infrastructure processes for performance monitoring, troubleshooting, capacity planning, configuration standards, and change management.
- Provide 24/7 support escalation, SLA adherence, and IMAC (Install, Move, Add, Change) services.
- Create and maintain server and application diagrams, workflows, and documentation.
- Diagnose, resolve, and perform root cause analysis for incidents.
- Lead vulnerability management and monthly patching/maintenance cycles.
- Manage installation, configuration, upgrades, and servicing of server components and applications.
- Prioritize and manage work requests based on urgency and business impact.
- Oversee vendor relationships for procurement, upgrades, and preventive maintenance.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert for Cloud Operations, Cybersecurity, and Systems Administration teams.
- Lead system analysis and infrastructure design projects, including defining detailed functional requirements.
- Ensure compliance with security and encryption protocols for U.S. national security requirements.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years in enterprise IT as a Systems or Cloud Administrator
- 4+ years of automation experience with PowerShell or Bash scripting
- Proficiency with Ansible for deployments
- Experience configuring and managing firewalls
- Expert-level Microsoft Azure Administrator skills
- Advanced Windows administration (Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy)
- Linux server troubleshooting and patching (SUSE, RedHat, CentOS)
- Ability to work onsite three days per week in Herndon, VA
- Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Industry certifications such as MCSE, MCITP, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ-104), Azure Solutions Architect (AZ-303/304)
- Experience integrating SIEM tools, backups, and monitoring solutions
- Familiarity with security best practices and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53 Rev 4)
