Job Description

As a Senior Software Development Engineer (IC3), you will design, develop, and implement automation solutions to streamline and optimize DBA-related tasks. Leveraging your expertise in Python, shell scripting, PL/SQL, and Java, you will create robust tools and scripts for automating database management, monitoring, and maintenance processes. Your role involves collaborating with DBAs and engineering teams to identify automation opportunities, enhance system reliability, and improve operational efficiency. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of both software development and database administration best practices.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts and tools using Python, shell scripting, PL/SQL, and Java to streamline database administration tasks such as backups, monitoring, patching, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with DBAs and engineering teams to gather requirements, identify automation opportunities, and implement efficient, reliable solutions that address operational challenges.
  • Optimize existing database processes by refactoring legacy scripts, enhancing error handling, and improving automation workflows.
  • Develop and implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify database issues and automate corrective actions, ensuring high system availability and minimal downtime.
  • Document automation processes, scripts, and tools to support knowledge sharing, troubleshooting, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and validation to maintain code quality and ensure solutions meet security, scalability, and compliance standards.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in database automation, scripting languages, and system administration.
  • Support incident response and root cause analysis by developing tools and scripts to diagnose and remediate database-related issues.
  • Work within agile and cross-functional teams, contributing to planning, prioritization, and continuous delivery of automation enhancements.

Must Have Skills/Experiences:
  • Advanced scripting skills (Shell and PL/SQL)
  • Advanced coding skills (Java and Python)
  • Experience with GitHub
  • Code review experience
  • DevOps Tools including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and monitoring
  • Understanding of REST Architecture and JSON
  • Understanding of automation of manual tasks

Preferred Skills:
  • Backend software automation
  • Experience with Oracle Databases, Oracle Autonomous Database, ExaCS
  • Experience in Cloud architecture
  • Experience with OCI

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $79,200 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
