Job Details

IO Datasphere, Inc. has been providing project management, software development and IT staff augmentation services to our clients in the Midwest and throughout the U.S. since 1996. We are an approved vendor on contract to provide software development and IT staff augmentation services for the States of Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. We also provide these services to businesses, as well as local and county governments, in the Midwest and nationwide.

Our client is seeking a Technical Writer. This position will serve as a member of the Customer Services and will assist in collecting staff data through a client data collection application. In addition, the team maintains various data directories, hosts the annual Conference and handles client application security. The team provides communications, workshops, training materials, and data submission guidance.

The Technical Writer position will be responsible for understanding, creating, and maintaining all user-facing documentation, training materials, and general communications for client applications and other Customer Service efforts. The position will communicate and disseminate complex and technical information more easily to customers. This person will work closely with others to accomplish project objectives, or function independently to accomplish daily work requirements. Objectives, priorities and deadlines are established in consultation with the department program area leaders, project managers, and the Customer Services Team manager.

Tasks
  • 60% - Create and Maintain End User Documentation
  • 20% - Create and Maintain Training Materials
  • 15% - Draft Mass and Targeted Communications
  • 5% - Professional Development and Other Duties as Assigned
  • Other duties as may be assigned

NOTE: Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidate's expense. Resource can work in office or be mostly remote but must be WI resident. Occasional in-person events required.

Location: Madison, WI (Hybrid occasional in-person events required)

Contract: 1 year

Skills Required:
  • 1-3 years - Experience performing external communications
  • 3 years - Experience / ability to process and document a fundamental understanding of end-to-end customer experience integration and dependencies
  • 3 years - Experience / ability to grasp technical concepts and communicate with product owners and subject matter experts
  • 3 years - Proficient with Microsoft Suite
  • Experience with preparation and maintenance of documentation and training materials
  • Experience writing about a technical, software system
  • Proficient with Google Suite
  • Associate s Degree or some college. Please include on Resume.

Skills Desired A plus to have:
  • Experience / understanding of application programming interface (API) technologies
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and reporting
  • Experience with Drupal webpage content management
  • Experience writing knowledge base articles
