Tax Manager - Boutique CPA Firm Environment
Location: Bellevue, WA
Reports To: Partner
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We're seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Manager to oversee the preparation, review, and strategic management of complex tax engagements for high-net-worth individuals, families, and closely held businesses. This position calls for someone with both strong technical tax expertise and excellent interpersonal skills to maintain trusted client relationships and mentor a growing team.

The ideal candidate is a proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative, high-performing environment. You'll play a key role in delivering tailored tax strategies, supporting business growth, and guiding clients through sophisticated tax planning and compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and oversee complex individual, estate, trust, and partnership tax returns for high-net-worth clients.
  • Provide strategic tax planning and consulting to optimize outcomes for clients.
  • Partner with firm leadership to identify tax-saving opportunities and manage compliance risk.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff and senior associates to ensure consistent quality and professional growth.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
  • Communicate directly with clients to clarify issues, resolve questions, and provide strategic guidance.
  • Support client relationship management and assist with business development initiatives.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, financial advisors, and other professionals on integrated wealth and estate planning strategies.

Qualifications
  • CPA license required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; Master's in Taxation preferred.
  • 6+ years of public accounting experience with a focus on high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Strong technical expertise in individual, fiduciary, estate, gift, and pass-through entity taxation.
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to mentor and manage junior staff.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in CCH Axcess, CCH ProSystems, or similar tax software, along with strong Microsoft Office Suite skills.

Preferred Attributes
  • Experience with estate and gift tax planning and multi-generational wealth strategies.
  • Familiarity with multi-state and international tax issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and business development skills.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: Starting at $125,000+, plus performance bonus (commensurate with experience)
