Job Description:

The Business Intelligence and Data Management department of the Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) Segment is seeking a data scientist / architect / analyst to join our team to help us make better business decisions based on our data. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of statistics, mathematics, and data science programming languages (e.g., SQL, R, Python), ETL development, data warehouse management, data analytics, metrics optimization, and dashboard/analytics design, development, and implementation. Through use of data analytics, data visualization, and data modeling techniques and technologies, the data scientist/architect/analyst will develop dashboard solutions that can help other departments, managers, and executives make strategic and tactical business decisions. This individual will be instrumental in developing new tools and providing comprehensive support to internal customers, requiring strong skills in data validation and root cause analysis. This individual will work closely with other team members, application developers, and the business and IT owners of the data sources.

Essential Functions:

Develop dashboard BI solutions to visualize trends, predict future events, and identify business risks and opportunities
Build and support BI tools that drive process automation and increase efficiencies throughout the organization
Collaborate with business leaders and data owners to support data architecture and data modeling efforts for segment-wide data warehouse
Develop strategies for data acquisition, troubleshoot data processing issues, and support testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, coding software enhancements, and integrating them into existing solutions
Apply data extraction, transformation, and loading techniques best practices to connect large data sets from a variety of sources and develop logical and physical data models
Develop, validate, maintain, modify, and enhance segment-wide databases and tool sets such as adding/removing tables or columns, writing stored procedures, indexing, and creating views and queries
Design, train, and implement machine learning algorithms for predictive analysis to gain insights into data proactively
Coordinate cross-functionally with IT and Data Analytics teams to ensure resource optimization, synchronization of initiatives, and to prevent duplication of work across the enterprise
Communicate regularly with technical, applications, and operational staff to ensure database integrity and security
Responsible for thorough project/tool documentation and maintaining an accurate and current data catalog by actively collaborating with business stakeholders
Support database maintenance and cleanup efforts
Provide extensive training to user communities and support to other analytics team members
Must be able to prepare and deliver presentations to executive, remote, and unfamiliar audiences

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience; Or, Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience; Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience
4+ years of experience with Microsoft Power BI including experience with DAX
3+ years of experience working with relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Snowflake) and developing SQL queries on large data sets
2+ years of experience developing and implementing tools and database infrastructure using languages such as Python, R, C, C++, C#, Java, and XML

Preferred Additional Skills:

Experience utilizing ETL development tools and troubleshooting ETL processes
Experience with data mining, machine learning, and statistical models
Ability to handle complex problems and take initiative to research issues, engage in self-learning, problem solve, and implement solutions
Ability to translate data-related requirements into innovative user solutions, drawing on prior education and experience, standard procedures, and basic analysis, including manipulating and interpreting large data sets to provide analysis and draw conclusions
Experience completing assignments with minimal supervision and setting objectives to meet the goals of assignments
Ability to establish rapport, communicate effectively, and collaborate with users, data providers, and management at all levels within an organization
Advanced organizational skills with ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and to comfortably adjust as priorities change
Able to operate in a fast-paced environment yet remain focused on long-term organizational goals
Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy with minimal oversight
Excellent communication skills, commitment to quality, customer focus, adaptability, and interpersonal skills

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in Colorado State, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Vermont and New York State is $93,500-$173,500. For California, Seattle, Washington D.C., Maryland Greater Washington D.C. area, the city of Denver, Washington State and New York City, the salary range for this role is $107,500-$199,500. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including health and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, EAP, education assistance, parental leave, paid time off, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
