Your Impact

As the leader of our Global Industrial/Commercial Engineering Team, you'll drive the vision, strategy, and execution of product innovation across Generac's commercial and industrial markets. Your leadership will shape how we design, develop, and deliver engineering excellence-balancing speed, quality, and global coordination. By creating a culture of innovation, accountability, and cross-functional collaboration, you'll empower teams to deliver best-in-class solutions and help expand Generac's global presence.

What you'll do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global engineering team, setting clear objectives that align with company strategy.

  • Define and execute the vision for industrial/commercial product engineering, partnering closely with operations, supply chain, quality, sales, and marketing.

  • Oversee product development life cycles from concept through launch-ensuring timely execution, cost control, and design excellence across global teams.

  • Champion process improvements to accelerate time-to-market, ensure repeatability, and enhance serviceability and manufacturability.

  • Guide the team through engineering change management, BOM structuring, and design release protocols.

  • Solve complex problems using structured methodologies such as 8D, 5 Whys, A3, and Fishbone.

  • Work closely with the Commercial & Industrial Business Group to develop a customer-centric product roadmap that addresses global market needs.

  • Foster collaboration across engineering, operations, and corporate functions to integrate emerging technologies and drive continuous improvement.

  • Serve as a key contributor to corporate planning, strategic hiring, succession planning, and performance development.

  • Present strategies, roadmaps, and updates to executive leadership and C-level stakeholders.

  • Manage budgets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and corporate performance goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • 15+ years of progressive engineering experience.

  • 7+ years of engineering leadership experience managing teams and projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related STEM field.

  • MBA or equivalent business training/education.

  • Experience with full product lifecycle of industrial or commercial products.

  • Prior involvement in global product launches and cross-functional team leadership.

  • Experience managing global teams and partnerships with contractors in best-cost countries.

Technical Expertise

  • Expertise in leading product engineering teams through structured processes such as change management, product release, BOM and part number management.

  • Strong collaboration mindset with deep experience working alongside operations, supply chain, and quality leaders.

  • Advanced knowledge of root cause analysis and problem-solving tools (e.g. Six Sigma, A3, 8D).

  • Demonstrated success in driving quality improvements amid challenges and delays.

  • Ability to adopt and scale new technologies or process methods to reduce cycle times and increase responsiveness.

  • Skilled in talent development, coaching, and building leadership pipelines.

  • Experienced in leading performance conversations, raising expectations, and elevating team capabilities.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex, global projects simultaneously-balancing speed, quality, and resources.

  • Strong business acumen across engineering, financials, marketing, and product strategy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with executive-level presentation experience.

  • Proficient in SAP or other ERP systems.

  • Self-directed, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning and innovation.
