Position: Network Engineer
Location: Columbia, MD (Remote)
Duration: Long-term Contract to Hire
DESCRIPTION:
- Works on network engineering team leading site network projects, changes, and some escalated troubleshooting.
- Expertise in LAN/WAN & site networks, the position also requires a solid understanding of data center, routing, switching, and wireless. Will participate in architecture & design meetings of the network.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Planning and implementing network changes on LAN & WAN at sites. Patching network devices.
- Employing exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they arise
Understand overall design of the network. - Stay current with industry trends, making recommendations as needed to help the company excel.
- Work with InfoSec team to resolve vulnerabilities.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent work experience.
- CCNA/CCNP Certification in Cisco is a plus.
- 5 years’ experience in a Network Engineer role or related position
- Knowledge of Cisco route/switch.
- Knowledge of router and switch code updates.
- Knowledge of process of new site networks as well as integrations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to stay focused on completing tasks and meeting goals within a busy workspace.
- Skilled at working in tandem with a team of engineers, or alone as required.
