Job Title: Sr. Azure Cloud Engineer

Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid 3 Days)

Duration: Long-term position

Position Summary:

Our Client's Entitlements Team is seeking a highly experienced Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to lead the design, automation, and implementation of scalable cloud solutions in Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Azure infrastructure, Terraform-based IaC, and modern Spring-based microservices architecture. You will drive DevOps maturity, CI/CD pipeline development, and security compliance while mentoring team members and enabling engineering best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and implement cloud-native solutions on Azure with scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency in mind.
  • Design and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for automating provisioning and resource management.
  • Collaborate with DevOps to build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
  • Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles - implement effective monitoring, alerting, disaster recovery, and incident response.
  • Drive compliance by implementing cloud security controls including IAM, network security, data protection, and secure deployments.
  • Develop solutions using modern technologies: Spring Boot, ReactJS, Azure Services, and Kafka/Solacemessaging.
  • Manage operational procedures for backup, restore, failover, and data replication.
  • Mentor junior team members on cloud and infrastructure best practices.
  • Work closely with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities and align with industry and internal standards.
  • Operate effectively within an Agile/SCRUM environment, contributing to sprint planning and delivery.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering or systems design.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering, specifically on Azure.
  • Demonstrated experience designing enterprise cloud solutions using Azure-native services.
  • Strong knowledge of Terraform, CI/CD, and monitoring/alerting tools in Azure.
  • Proven expertise in implementing highly available, secure, and performant cloud environments.

  • Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS), Azure DevOps
  • IaC Tools: Terraform (HashiCorp Certified preferred)
  • Languages & Frameworks: Spring Boot, JPA, ReactJS
  • Databases: Azure PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB
  • Messaging: Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Hub, Azure Event Grid, Solace, Kafka
  • Monitoring & Logging: Azure Monitor, Application Insights, Log Analytics
  • DevOps: GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps
  • SDLC: Agile / SCRUM

Preferred Certifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate
  • HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate
