About the Role
The New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking an experienced UI Developer (Level III) to join the Integrated Eligibility System (IES) program. This role involves designing and developing modern, scalable, and accessible user interfaces for large-scale web and mobile applications supporting statewide health and human services programs such as Medicaid, SNAP, Public Assistance, HEAP, and Child Care.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including architects, business analysts, and testers to deliver intuitive, performant, and standards-compliant UI solutions that meet both business and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain responsive, reusable, and high-performance UI components and applications.
- Translate business and UX requirements into functional, visually appealing user interfaces.
- Collaborate with designers, product owners, and backend developers to ensure consistency across platforms.
- Implement and enforce UI/UX best practices, accessibility standards (Section 508/WCAG), and responsive design principles.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, performance, and scalability.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior developers.
- Stay current with emerging UI trends, frameworks, and technologies.
- Participate in all phases of the SDLC requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
Mandatory Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience developing complex, large-scale web applications.
- 2+ years in a technical or team leadership role.
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in UI development using:
- HTML, CSS, XML, JSON, AJAX
- JavaScript/TypeScript
- Angular (3 4 years minimum)
- jQuery, Bootstrap
- MVC patterns and scalable UI architectures
Desirable Qualifications
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Web Development, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience with:
- .NET/C# for n-tier web applications or Java/Spring Boot for cloud deployments.
- SOA and API development (SOAP/RESTful services).
- Entity Framework and relational databases.
- Unit testing frameworks (xUnit, NUnit preferred).
- Version control (Git).
- 2+ years of experience with CI/CD pipeline design and implementation.
- 2+ years working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Experience in state or federal government projects, especially within Health and Human Services (e.g., SNAP, HEAP, Medicaid, Fair Hearings, etc.), is a plus.
