Role: DOCSIS Test Engineer Location: Philadelphia, PA
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled DOCSIS Test Engineer to test, validate, and support Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) and related back-end systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in DOCSIS, Wi-Fi networks, and broadband access devices, with hands-on experience in troubleshooting, validation, and field support. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, performance, and integration of CPE devices in production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Testing & Validation: Test and validate CPE devices and back-end systems, ensuring compliance with performance and quality standards.
Technical Support: Serve as the first-level escalation point for beta customer issues and provide technical assistance for all escalated DOCSIS CPE issues.
Field Support: Perform beta, customer field triage, and troubleshooting activities.
Device Coverage: Design and execute testing for a wide range of Internet access devices, including modems, OLTs, eMTAs, routers, gateways, and set-top boxes.
Wireless Integration: Validate performance using wireless clients and Wi-Fi networks.
Software & Network Engineering: Develop solutions and perform validation testing across software and network environments.
Documentation: Create, maintain, and update test plans, test cases, and related documentation.
Agile Collaboration: Participate in daily scrums and weekly bug review/classification meetings to address issues and prioritize fixes.
Configuration & Integration: Manage certification, configuration, and integration engineering for all DOCSIS CPE devices.
Requirements Analysis: Identify hardware and software testing requirements based on project needs.
Test Environment Setup: Establish and maintain test network environments as documented in test plans.
Required Qualifications
Hands-on experience testing and troubleshooting DOCSIS CPE devices.
Strong understanding of broadband access devices and technologies, including modems, OLTs, eMTAs, routers, gateways, and set-top boxes.
Knowledge of Wi-Fi networks, wireless client integration, and CPE back-end systems.
Proficiency in developing and executing test plans, validation procedures, and troubleshooting methodologies.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and bug tracking systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
