SharePoint Database Administrator
Location - Remote

Position Requirements:
Seek a proactive and technically skilled SharePoint Database Administrator. This role is a critical liaison between end users and the IT department, responsible for planning, installing, configuring, maintaining, and securing all enterprise database systems for SharePoint On-Premise. The ideal candidate will possess skills to perform routine database operations, backups, data integrity, security compliance, and performance tuning.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Maintain, back up, and restore SQL SharePoint databases to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Monitor server health and troubleshoot issues at the server and database level.
- Optimize performance, storage, and security of databases, including regular checks and disaster recovery tests.
- Collaborate with application developers and system administrators for integrated operations.
- Document maintenance, incidents, and configuration changes as required.
- Utilize tools like Azure Portal, Power BI Report Server, SSMS, Splunk, and TSQL for managing and monitoring databases at a server level.
- Support database security compliance and address findings related to database impacts.
- Monitor disk and server usage, handle failover processes, and manage permissions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- The SharePoint Database Administrator (DBA) is a central role in the operation of the SharePoint Support team. To support best practices, this person must have excellent knowledge of SQL databases and a strong background working in Agile-based projects. The DBA will focus on databases and connections supporting Microsoft SharePoint.
- Supporting monthly SharePoint database patching activities including database stability checks.
- Performing database backup/restore of SQL SharePoint content databases to align with operations and maintenance processes.
- Provide server level troubleshooting of databases and monitoring of database health including disk usage, server usage, storage.
- Create basic T-SQL scripting to change parameters.
- Collaborate with application developers and system admins to support integrated services.
- Maintain database schemas, stored procedures, indexes, and triggers.
- Document all procedures, incidents, and changes in accordance with contract requirements.
- Install and configure database software, tools, and utilities.
- Perform regular database maintenance, backups, restores, and disaster recovery tests.
- Monitor performance, tune queries, and optimize storage.
- Maintain database security in compliance with federal standards.
- Ensure data availability, integrity, and redundancy across operational systems.
- Work with Product Owners to identify priorities, participate in Feature/Iteration Reviews, Backlog Refinement, and in team daily stand-up meetings.
- Support the Migration from SharePoint On-Premise to SharePoint Online.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Must be able to support on-call duties over the weekend and have a flexible working schedule.
- Must be able to multitask and write grammatically correct email responses to customers within the government.
- Must interact with a cross-disciplinary team and navigate between government clients, partner contractors, and our internal team.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Experience in systems database, recovery, and/or systems software and support.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience providing database administration for a large system.
- Experienceutilizing SAFe Agile and Scrum Methodologies
- Excellent customer communication skills
- Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience with SharePoint Online or SharePoint 2019.
- Experience supporting federal government environments.
- Azure portal familiarity to view infrastructure resources
- Experience with Splunk monitoring and query building.
- Experience creating T-SQL scripts.
- Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
- Prior SSMS application and SQL server experience.
- Database Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certification.
- Prior experience with SQL Server
- Experience with using ShareGate.
- Experience with using Jira.
