Tool and Die Maker Direct Hire

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to join our team in a fast-paced production support environment. This role involves:

  • Tooling production support (new builds + repairs)
  • Maintenance, breakdowns, and welding repairs
  • Backfilling tools currently in production
  • Setups for new tooling
  • Manual grinding and handwork fitting
  • Use of vertical mills and lathes for CNC (2D, 2-axis training provided)
  • Tight tolerances in plastics (measuring within less than a thousandth)
  • Use of CAD/CAM systems like Solidworks and Powermill
  • Use of EDM machines (burning only, no wiring)
  • Mentoring apprentices

Work Breakdown:

  • 50% new tool builds
  • 50% tool repairs (can fluctuate to 70% repair-focused)
  • High variety of tooling projects
  • Mix of independent work and team collaboration
  • Emphasis on quality fixes, creativity, and problem-solving

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Plastic injection molding or die cast experience (stamping does not qualify)
  • Ability to handwork and fit tooling precisely
  • Strong collaboration, leadership, and teamwork
  • Positive attitude and willingness to solve problems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Journeyman card (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with CAD/CAM programs
  • Familiarity with EDM machines

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour
