- Role: Senior Kubernetes Engineer
- Location: McLean, VA 22102- hybrid on site Tues-Thurs
- Contract Duration: 2 years +
- Job Description:
- Project: Provide operational and support capacity for OneKube EKS clusters to meet commitments stand service backlog of onboarding requests for federated operational model. This, in turn, will free delivery capacity to accelerate our managed infrastructure strategy.
- Tech Stack/Requirements:
- Must-Have Experience:
- EKS: Kubernetes platform operations, with real-world experience running and managing EKS clusters.
- Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service) is the backbone
- Deep knowledge of Kubernetes internals, especially control plane behavior, pod lifecycle, and networking within EKS
- Understanding of how EKS works under the hood: node groups, control plane integrations, kubelet behavior, autoscaling, and networking modes
- Understanding of control plane mechanics, workload scheduling, node group management, and cluster configuration.
- CICD:
- Jenkins drives the CI/CD workflows.
- Familiarity with how CI/CD workflows deploy to Kubernetes clusters, manage secrets, build images, and perform rollouts
- Coding: Go development for building automation and operational tooling
- Experience building internal tools that interface with Kubernetes APIs or support automation/observability
- AWS
- General AWS knowledge is important
- Candidates need comfort with core AWS services (e.g., IAM, EC2, networking, S3) to the extent they interact with EKS.
- Wishlist:
- Kubernetes Cluster Operations (CKA Certified or equivalent experience)
- GitOps Tooling (ArgoCD/Tekton/Flux)
- AWS Cloud - EKS, EC2, S3, Route53, IAM, Secrets Manager, ACM
- Terraform
