Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Business Analyst to support a mission-critical Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) modernization project. This role requires working onsite in Jefferson City, Missouri, two days per week, with the remaining workdays remote. The ideal candidate will have strong experience analyzing Medicaid business processes and requirements, with a proven track record supporting MMIS initiatives. Experience with the Missouri Medicaid program is a strong plus.
Responsibilities:
- Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and document business and system requirements related to Medicaid operations and MMIS modules
- Process Mapping: Develop and maintain process models, workflows, and use cases to support system enhancements and modernization efforts
- MMIS Knowledge Application: Apply knowledge of Medicaid policy, claims processing, provider enrollment, and eligibility systems to ensure alignment of system functionality with business needs
- Gap Analysis: Identify gaps between current-state functionality and desired outcomes, recommending practical and compliant solutions
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between business units, development teams, and quality assurance to ensure accurate translation of requirements into technical solutions
- Testing Support: Assist in the development of test plans and scripts; participate in system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate functionality
- Documentation: Create detailed and comprehensive documentation, including business requirements, functional specifications, and meeting notes
Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Business Administration, Health Informatics, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in healthcare IT, with a focus on Medicaid or public sector systems
- Prior experience with Medicaid MMIS systems is required
- Deep understanding of Medicaid programs, policies, and operations - including eligibility, claims, provider services, and encounters
- Experience working on large-scale technology initiatives with cross-functional teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficiency with business analysis tools such as Microsoft Visio, Excel, and project tracking systems (e.g., JIRA)
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with Missouri s Medicaid systems or policy is highly desirable
