Overview:
We are seeking a hybrid professional with deep Upstream Oil & Gas Revenue Accounting expertise and proven experience enhancing or customizing accounting systems from a functional perspective. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between Accounting and IT able to translate business requirements into functional specifications, validate system changes, and ensure that reporting outputs align with operational and compliance needs. A working ability to read and interpret SQL code is required to validate logic, troubleshoot issues, and communicate effectively with technical teams.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the functional subject matter expert (SME) for upstream revenue accounting processes, including production, royalties, and regulatory reporting.

  • Partner with IT and vendors to define, test, and deploy system enhancements, configurations, and customizations for accounting and revenue systems (e.g., BOLO, SAP PRA, Quorum, Enertia).

  • Gather, document, and manage functional requirements for new features, reports, or process changes.

  • Read and interpret SQL queries and stored procedures to validate report logic, assist with troubleshooting, and ensure data accuracy.

  • Develop and execute functional test plans, UAT, and post-implementation validation.

  • Support month-end and year-end close processes by ensuring system-generated outputs are correct and complete.

  • Liaise between Accounting, IT, and external vendors to ensure smooth integration of financial data with related systems.

  • Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend automation or optimization solutions.

  • Provide training and documentation for end-users on system changes and enhancements.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field (CPA or MBA a plus).

  • 5+ years of upstream oil & gas revenue accounting experience with strong knowledge of production, royalty, and tax processes.

  • Demonstrated experience enhancing or customizing accounting systems from a functional perspective.

  • Ability to read and understand SQL code (no requirement for advanced development skills).

  • Experience working with ERP or upstream accounting software such as BOLO, SAP PRA, Quorum, Enertia, or similar.

  • Strong understanding of financial data flows, reconciliations, and controls.

  • Excellent communication skills, able to act as a bridge between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
