Summary:
The Project Manager 2 position is essential for overseeing all stages of a project, from initiation to closure. This role requires comprehensive understanding of project scope, objectives, and team dynamics to effectively coordinate and guide the project's progression. You will be pivotal in assembling project teams, assigning responsibilities, and managing resources and schedules to ensure successful and timely project completion. Projects typically involve onboarding state agency websites, content assessments, and occasional larger software development projects.
Responsibilities:
- Develop the project charter through review with key stakeholders.
- Confirm project scope, schedule, resources, risks, issues, assumptions, constraints, and budget.
- Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs, ensuring the plan remains accurate and up-to-date.
- Set expectations according to the project plan to align stakeholders and team members.
- Implement approved actions to mitigate project risks.
- Record customer requirements, constraints, and assumptions to establish project deliverables.
- Obtain project charter approval from executive sponsors and business owners.
- Follow project management methodologies and standards set by GTA.
- Develop and manage project plans using standardized software.
- Obtain business owner approval to formalize project management approach and define the project scope.
- Conduct project meetings and present to executive-level participants.
- Advise on issues affecting project status and offer solutions.
- Capture lessons learned and process improvement documentation.
- Formalize final acceptance from business owners/executive sponsors to close contractual obligations.
- Provide high-level technical guidance for a Drupal-based content management system and other products.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Experience working with executive-level management.
- Ability to provide guidance on project management practices and methodologies.
- Skill in influencing multiple project stakeholders to achieve success.
- Proficiency in evaluating risk and defining risk management strategies.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including MS Project.
- Experience with Atlassian products like Jira and Confluence for project tracking and documentation.
