Job Description:
The Fiber Technician is responsible for all aspects of Fiber including but not limited to installing, terminating, testing and splicing. All work will be performed onsite, at the Microsoft Data Center in Fayetteville, GA.
Skills & Qualifications:
Cabling & Termination Skills: Must possess the ability to:
  • Install LC, SC, ST, FC, FDDI, SMA and MPO/MTP connectors, for single-mode fiber
  • Terminate simplex & duplex jumper cord
  • Terminate & breakout outside plant (single strand / single mode no Multimode) fiber (e.g. Corning/Commscope)
  • Terminate & breakout outside plant
  • Terminate outdoor single-mode fiber
  • Ability to understand and or experience with Splice Matrix
  • Experience testing fiber using Fluke Tester
  • Basic copper termination skills
  • Fully complete all IES paperwork accurately and on time specifically: timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, Job Blog, tool transfers and others as required

Splicing: Must have the ability to:
  • Perform mechanical splicing with all types of fiber cable
  • Perform fusion splicing with all types of fiber cable
  • Perform building entrance splices, maintenance space, and direct buried splices

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
  • Test using an OTDR, Fluke DTX 1800
  • Troubleshoot using an OTDR to identify and correct problems end to end, and Network wide
  • Provide all documentation required
  • Label in accordance with IES Standards

Experience Level:
Intermediate to Expert Level
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
