Job Title: Electrical Failure Investigation Engineer
Job Location: Danvers, MA
Duration: 3-6 Months
Pay Rate: $40/hr - $54/hr all-in rate (depending on experience)
Job Description:
Electrical Engineer MUST have experience troubleshooting failed equipment. Medical device is a strong plus.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
The Electrical Engineer Consultant will join the Post-Market Engineering team within the Quality Department. This role focuses on conducting post-market investigations of FDA-approved medical devices primarily through document and data review.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reopen and review existing case files where product analysis has already been completed
- Determine failure causes by reviewing clinical notes, device data logs, and investigation documentation
- Apply failure analysis techniques to support consistent root cause identification
- Utilize statistical tools and risk management methodologies to assess trends and failure rates
- Support CAPA efforts to help prevent recurrence of known issues
- Where applicable, recommend improvements to product design or service procedures (e.g., schematic or layout updates)
- Additional Notes:
- Investigations will be assigned by the hiring manager, with complexity based on the consultant s experience
- Most cases involve returned products related to clinical use
- While the ability to conduct product investigations is required, this role is primarily documentation-based and not hands-on in the lab
Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or directly related scientific discipline required. Electrical highly preferred
- 2-5 years of related work experience
- Electromechanical system troubleshooting experience down to component-level
- Ability to interpret circuit schematics, BOMs, and technical drawings
- Cross-functional experience with hardware/ software and analog/ digital systems
