Position: Senior Electrical Engineer (Radio Frequency)
Location: Fort Worth, TX (Onsite)
Length: 6-12 months

Job Description:
Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to work on assignments that require the regular application of generally acknowledged expertise in the Radio Frequency (RF) electrical engineering field and the use of considerable initiative and creativity. The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership in significant design, research and development projects, and in the preparation of technical proposals in the field of RF design. The Senior Electrical Engineer will manage project assignments for large technical proposals and research and development programs that require substantial coordination with internal sources of information, oversight of the work of other engineers, and representing the company where technical credibility is required. The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide expert explanations, techniques, and/or approaches to colleagues, management, and customers. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for successful completion (i.e., schedule, performance, and cost) of sub-systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Lead project responsibilities as part of larger program objectives involved in the design and development of products, equipment, or processes.
  • Develop specifications, schematics, assembly drawings, and bill of materials against which designs can be produced.
  • Prepares product and sub-system performance specifications.
  • Conduct RF computer simulation to analyze, test, or design power amplifiers operating in VHF, UHF, L, S, and C bands.
  • Review and implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) objectives.
  • Prepare project requests detailing proposed engineering work costs and product timetable.
  • Provide technical presentation support and consultation to proposal team.
  • Represent company unit in customer or field force contacts.
  • Recommend the addition, expansion, or termination of research projects and assure the technical soundness of engineering programs.
  • Verify designs in the lab environment working with RF equipment (i.e., spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, RF signal generators, advanced oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • Prepare cost estimates on proposed major RF design products.
  • Plan and lead experiments to evaluate operating characteristics of products or processes.
  • Produce innovative technical solutions to customers problems.
  • Prepare technical proposals for competitive bids.
  • Research information on equipment and cost for project proposals.
  • Perform preliminary engineering necessary to confirm plans and programs.
  • Provide technical support to program management, quality, and procurement.
  • Perform typical RF design engineering functions (i.e., schematic design and capture, design review, supervision, and review of PCB design and layout).
  • Select and evaluate components and purchased subassemblies to ensure program requirements are met.
  • Provide production and obsolescence support as required.
  • Be able to conduct analysis to determine form, fit, and functional alternates for obsolete parts or for those nearing obsolescence.
  • Collect and analyze information on competitor product performance.
  • Initiate and conduct field testing and research work for new RF applications.
  • Translate experimental results into design criteria.
  • Provide application engineering to customers.
  • Supervise the work of other engineering personnel.
  • Utilize project planning and monitoring methods to ensure timely completion and communicate project status to appropriate departments.
  • Recommend and implement new design and analysis tools.
  • Provide training to department for design and analysis methods and new tool usage.
  • Define new process improvements.
  • Assist in developing engineering budgets.
  • Originate and communicate concepts which could lead to new products.
  • Review and approve completed design work.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent scientific discipline and at least 9 years of relevant experience or Master s Degree in Electrical Engineering equivalent scientific discipline and at least 7 years relevant experience.
  • Strong knowledge of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes in the field of RF Electrical Engineering
  • Ability to possess creativity and originality sufficient to contribute new inventions, designs or techniques which are of material significance in the solution of important problems.
  • Experience in one or more of the following RF design and simulation tools: AWR, Microwave Office, or ADS LTSpice.
  • Experience in one or more of the following design tools: Siemens Mentor Graphics, Cadence, or Altium schematic capture and PC layout tools.
  • Prior experience with military power amplifier design expertise operating in the following bands and amplification levels: L-Band frequencies 1710 1855 MHz, S-Band frequencies 2200 2500 MHz, C-Band frequencies 4400 5850 MHz, peak power level of at least 50.5 dBm for L/S band peak and 51.2 dBm for C-Band, and various waveforms including CW.
  • Due to the nature of the work, the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret clearance is required (current active clearance is preferred).
  • Prior experience with Department of Defense and military specifications, standards, and processes is preferred.
