Job Details

Title: PCB Component Engineer (CE)

Location: Santa Clara, CA hybrid schedule (3-days onsite)

Length of Contract: 6-12 months with potential contract to hire

Hours: 40 hours per week

Ideal Start Date: Mid May, beginning to review resumes now.

Process: 2 rounds of interview first will be a screen with the hiring manager, and then a panel of several of his team leads and engineers

Background Check Required

Scope: The PCB Component Engineer is responsible to ensure PCBs meet quality, reliability, and assurance of supply requirements for use in Arista manufactured products. The Component Engineer works closely with Design Engineers, Supply Chain Management and New Product Introduction Engineers in order to successfully launch products and sustain them in production.

Client has a heavy workload coming in for their next generation product line and is looking for a Component Engineer that specializes in fabs, and particularly PCBs. The client has one person internally that is operating as component engineer, commodity manager, and quality engineer all in one role, and he is stretched very thin and thus they are carving out a specific component engineering role.

Client is NOT LOOKING for someone with background in PCBAs they are working with components going ON the board. They already have an army of in-house folks handling PCBA work. They have a lot of Manufacturing engineers that know all the processes and are helping with soldering, etc. They need a Component Engineer to care for the fabrication itself, the PCB Board itself understands the build, the different layers, the complexity across the layers, the challenges with the boards warping as they go into the oven, etc. Ideally will come from a background working in a FAB house/Fab Side like WUS, GCE, ISU, and TTN Technologies, Samina Corp has a fab house. These environments would be very helpful to understand the process nodes, the challenges of the multiple layers, the laminations, etc.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support to design engineers and align design to supplier capability to ensure a reliable, quality product.
  • Perform research on supplier capability roadmaps and work with manufacturers to meet Arista requirements by collaborating with designers, manufacturers, and supply chain to meet performance, pricing, availability, and volume production needs.
  • Creation and updating of PCB specifications and requirements.
  • Creation and updating of PCB test vehicle, qualification procedures, and requirements for new technology qualifications.
  • Updating of onsite supplier audit checklist, scoring and requirements.
  • Monitor, identify and resolve lifecycle issues. Can work with manufacturers, supply chain and design engineers to identify root cause of issues and make recommendations for NPI and sustaining products.
  • Provides Risk Ratings in Agile on PCB based on single/multi-sourcing, lifecycle, quality issues and component availability for volume production.
  • Will be versed in reviewing and comparing PCB raw materials. As well as creating the test vehicles, procedures, and requirements for manufacturers to qualify on new or existing raw materials.
  • Has sufficient insight on international and domestic agency requirements such as RoHS, REACH, Conflict Minerals, Safety, EMI/EMC and is able to engage with impacted Arista groups when needed.
  • Ability to administer ECO, MCO, PCN in Agile and monitor its progress from initiation to released state.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degrees in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science or Physics or has equivalent work experience in the military or network industry with electronic manufacturing emphasis.
  • Working or technical knowledge in at least 4 of the following areas of PCB: High Speed Interconnects, PCB Stackups, PCB DFM/DFA, PCB Processing, Package Assembly, PCB/PCBA Failure Analysis, IPC Specifications, and SMT Manufacturing.
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment.
