Job Title: 5G RF Design Engineer (Atoll Expert)
Location: Nova Scotia or Mississauga, Ontario
Duration: Long Term

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented 5G RF Design Engineer with proven experience in Atoll to join our wireless network engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and optimizing 5G radio access networks (RAN) using the Atoll platform, ensuring optimal coverage, capacity, and performance across new and existing deployments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize 5G NR, LTE radio designs (macro, small cell, DAS) using Atoll RF planning tool
- Perform link budget calculations, PCI planning, and neighbor list generation
- Generate and analyze coverage maps, signal strength, SINR, RSRP/RSRQ, and throughput predictions
- Conduct clutter data analysis and tuning, including terrain, morphology, and indoor propagation
- Interface with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure designs align with performance KPIs and customer requirements
- Perform model tuning and validation based on drive test data or UE logs (e.g., TEMS, NEMO, Actix)
- Collaborate with site acquisition, civil, and transport teams to finalize RF designs
- Create detailed RF design packages including site parameters, antenna configuration, azimuths, down tilts, and cable losses
- Participate in network design reviews and recommend improvements to meet strategic goals
- Use scripting or automation tools for bulk data management and reporting within Atoll
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, or related field
- 8+ years of experience in RF design with a focus on 5G NR, LTE
- Expert-level experience with Atoll for RF planning and network modeling
- Hands-on experience with 3D modeling, ACP (Automatic Cell Planning), and GIS data layers
- Strong knowledge of 5G/LTE RAN architecture, RF propagation, and planning principles
- Familiarity with antenna patterns, RF parameters, and site engineering constraints
- Experience in RF optimization or performance engineering is a plus
- Proficiency in Excel, MapInfo, or other GIS tools; scripting in Python or SQL is a bonus
Preferred Skills:
- Understanding of O-RAN / vRAN environments
- Experience working with Ericsson, Nokia, or Samsung vendor data
- Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-project environments
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
