Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Enterprise Data and Solutions of Information Technology, the Senior Director of Enterprise Systems leads two teams: the enterprise system team and the project management team. This individual is responsible for building strong relationships with academic and administrative departments across the college for the services provided. The successful candidate understands the unique requirements and challenges facing higher education, especially in the student and academic landscape, and effectively manages governance and delivery of the services to produce the most desired outcomes that meet business objectives. The candidate has a strategic mindset of technology innovation, is forward thinking and commits to delivering accurate data and resilient Student Information System and support to the user community. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Partner with the IT Executive team, establish annual team goals for the project management office and the enterprise system team. Articulate strategic projects and initiatives that align with the TechMedia division's strategic plan. Cohesively work with the Development & Integration, the Business Intelligence teams of Enterprise Data and Solutions and other teams of TechMedia division to achieve their defined goals.
  • Use best practices and data-informed strategies, oversee the work, efforts and performance of supervised staff. This also includes task assignment and quality of services evaluation of work performed by both staff and consultants.
  • Support Ellucian products such as Banner, DegreeWorks, BDMS/Xtender, Ethos integration platform and underlining technical architecture up to the industry standard to ensure 99.9% uptime through solid database management and DR practices, as well as enforcing data integrity, access control and security standards. Perform registration load tests and support major summer, fall and spring term course registration events. Keep a standard semi-annual product upgrade schedule to adopt new functional and technical enhancements. Other system and user support include EMS, the resource management solution, CBORD, the campus ID management system, and other campus systems that integrate with Banner.
  • Manage the enterprise systems team activities by conducting weekly review/planning meetings and forming action plans. Timely capture, intervene and resolve reported issues, communicate with the campus wide user group issues and solutions. Serve as a Co-chair of the Banner Support Committee, and participate in the Workday Support Committee.
  • Ensure the PMO is guided by our IT Project Management framework. Remediate problems as they arise, effectively communicate status and risk, and ensure accountability of project team members to maintain high project management standards. Assess project management effectiveness and its value proposition to the project team. Prioritize PM's workloads, and improve team performance through team building, coaching, empowering, regular check-ins and professional development.
  • Maintain and enhance the PMO framework to incorporate changes and/or adopt better practices that are suitable to Emerson. Diligently identify and develop KPI and metrics that can effectively measure the PMO performance and to assist with future project resource planning. Provide support and training to stakeholders outside the PMO so project management methodologies and best practices are adopted and consistently utilized by project teams or other business units.
  • Maintain a comprehensive PMO project portfolio. Conduct monthly project portfolio review sessions with TechMedia division senior leadership to discuss issues, project gaps and report the overall projects status. Maintain accurate portfolio status at all times through outreaching to project sponsor or project lead, particularly, to understand challenges, road blockers and discuss ways to solve.
  • Ensure PMO managed or supported projects including the Workday 5-year program's goals and metrics are met. Communicate with project stakeholders and external vendors to create a cohesive and transparent project environment. Keep projects in alignment with the college 5-year program's strategic goals at all stages and phases.
  • Support ClickUp as the College's central Workspace administrator. Roll out ClickUp as a project management tool to project teams and to other business units who adopt ClickUp as their project management tool through creating separate business spaces. Ensure consistency in use practice across business units. Identify gaps in the tool use and work with ClickUp customer support to seek improvements. Stay on top of new product features enhancements to continuously improve the platform.
  • Maintain vendor relationships, and ensure vendors meet their obligations including financial, project resources, quality of work are fulfilled within contractual agreements for all external vendor involved projects.
  • Manage projects as needed which can range from significant strategic projects to standard projects of operation. Ensure projects are executed by the PMO framework guidelines.
  • Collaborate with IT leadership, functional department leaders or user committees to evaluate projects or innovative initiatives. Research and write business proposals to recommend the potential implementation of emerging technological solutions that can bring unique values to the College.
  • Encourage and coordinate the collective participation of the user community to gain shared understanding of strategic initiatives and decision-making including Enterprise Business User Group (eBug), the Workday Support Committee, and the Banner Support Committee through organizing a variety of activities, which can be directly orientated by a project or by an IT strategic initiative.
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS - Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to effectively perform the job.
  • Master's degree in computer science, technology management or combined years of experience required
  • 8-10 years of Enterprise System management experience, and/or experience supporting the Student Information System required
  • Minimum 5 years project management experience, or educational background and equivalent work experience required
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Experience with modern project management/portfolio management platforms preferred
  • Previous experience working in a Higher Ed setting required

  • Data savvy, strategically deft, with the ability to analyze, interpret, and present information in a manner that educates, informs and engages others.
  • Experience leading organizational change and ability to engage stakeholders in the development, adoption, and implementation of a strategic project or program.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple teams, foster relationships, and address technical or business barriers.

COMPENSATION

Compensation for this position will be between $ 143,300 - $ 1 82,700 annually, commensurate with experience.

This position is primarily a hybrid role with mandatory days in the office as needed. The hybrid arrangement will be made upon hire. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the Boston campus in order to ensure operational effectiveness.

Grade of Position: 23-15E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
