This position reports to

Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing a team that supports the facility in the areas of solid modeling, documentation and design drawing creation, deviation requests, quality improvements, testing, cost reduction, and research. Each day, you will manage multiple priorities and proactively drive results. You will also interface with the other departments and management teams. The work model for the role is: Onsite This role is contributing to the ABB Electrification Installation Products division at the Hackettstown, NJ manufacturing facility. You will be mainly accountable for: Performing a variety of technology/engineering assignments, mainly in documentation and product enhancements, which demonstrates independent ability to recognize problems and provide input to solutions. Assigning engineers to projects, overseeing the results and provides follow-up to projects and activities to ensure consistent and creative outcomes. Maintaining and coaching others on of state-of-art technology, as well as ABB products and technologies, and identifies and understands technical drivers for projects in own area. Participating constructively in working teams, sharing own technical/scientific knowledge in team projects and supports colleagues in applying processes and tools to ensure timely and high quality results. Providing leadership for the team reporting into this position through active coaching and development of the staff while being accountable for the results of the group and acting as the groups' liaison to other functional areas.
Qualifications for the role
ABB Installation Products Division (formerly Thomas & Betts) helps manage the connection, protection and distribution of electrical power from source to socket. The Division's products are engineered to provide ease of installation and perform in demanding and harsh conditions, helping to ensure safety and continuous operation for utilities, businesses and people around the world. The Commercial Essentials product segment includes electrical junction boxes, commercial fittings, strut and cable tray metal framing systems for commercial and residential construction. The Premier Industrial product segment includes multiple product lines, such as Ty-Rap cable ties, T&B Liquidtight Systems protection products, PVC coated and nylon conduit systems, power connection and grounding systems, and cable protection systems of conduits and fittings for harsh and industrial applications. The Division also manufactures solutions for medium-voltage applications used in the utility market under its marquee brands including Elastimold reclosers and switchgear, capacitor switches, current limiting fuses, Homac distribution connectors, Hi-Tech Valiant full-range current limiting fuse for fire mitigation, faulted current indicators and distribution connectors, cable accessories and apparatus with products for overhead and underground distribution. Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 8+ years' of Engineering experience in production/manufacturing including 5+ years' experience in a supervisory/management role.
- Good project management skills.
- Working knowledge of mechanical and electrical properties of materials; manufacturing techniques of plastics and metals; design for manufacturability and assembly; product design and development techniques; finance and cost accounting; and project scheduling.
- Experience with 2D drafting and 3D modeling.
- Intermediate level of ability with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
