Job Description

The Engineer - Project Development completes technical work and directs others in technical work in the planning, evaluation, budgeting, design, procurement, development and construction of company projects; including generation additions and upgrades, electric vehicle infrastructure, energy storage, decommissioning, environmental, communications, facilities, asset acquisitions, new technology reviews, and other projects as assigned. The engineer evaluates and performs due diligence on potential investments, acquisitions, research on new and proven equipment and other business evaluations. The engineer will assist in the preparation and administration of contracts, permit applications, environmental filings and financial and regulatory filings. This position develops and maintains reports, project schedules and plans, and develops and tracks project financials, invoicing and development and construction status of projects.

Responsibilities

Provide engineering services for the planning, evaluation, budgeting, procurement, design and construction of project developments, additions, modifications or maintenance to company large-scale projects. Evaluates new and proven technologies for potential implementation into company assets (40%)

Provide technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimating, budgeting, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections, and managing multiple contractors on a project site. (30%)

Conduct engineering investigations, studies, or advanced studies with complex investigations to prepare oral and written reports of results and recommendations. (15%)

Provides engineering assistance to other departments, technical input or advanced technical leadership to staff. (5%)

Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (10%)

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.

Engineer 2 must have 1-3 years of industry engineering experience.

Senior Engineer must have five years of industry engineering experience. PE license preferred.

High level of technical knowledge, judgment and capability in the engineering discipline. Broad analytical skills. Project management skills or advanced project management skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Effective verbal and written communication skills. Expertise in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

Experience with project management software such as Microsoft Project or Oracle Primavera preferred.

Leadership skills to provide guidance, direction, orientation and instruction.

The ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds.

Ability to travel occasionally (typically 20% travel).
