Job Details

Job Title: Network Project Support Technician

Location: San Diego, CA (Onsite)

Duration: 6 Months+

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Asset Preparation & Deployment:
    1. Prepare network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, access points) for deployment.
    2. Tag devices with RFID labels or asset tags per configuration and labeling guidelines.
    3. Ensure all devices are deployment-ready per client specifications.
    4. Deploy network hardware at client sites, ensuring proper installation and connectivity.
  1. Inventory Management & Tracking:
    1. Track incoming and outgoing network assets using the client's Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
    2. Maintain accurate and up-to-date logs using asset management software.
    3. Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and proper storage.
  1. Receiving & Shipment Coordination:
    1. Receive and inspect network hardware shipments for damage or discrepancies.
    2. Log and label incoming devices and update relevant databases.
    3. Coordinate outbound shipments, ensuring proper packaging and documentation.
  1. Deployment & Installation Support:
    1. Provide on-site or remote support to network technicians during hardware installation.
    2. Ensure devices are configured and deployed according to client standards.
    3. Assist in troubleshooting hardware-related issues during deployment or retrieval.
    4. Support network project implementation, including setup and configuration tasks as directed by the Network Engineering team.
  1. Warehouse Organization & Maintenance:
    1. Organize and store network hardware in designated warehouse areas.
    2. Perform routine maintenance, including cleaning and ensuring a safe work environment.
    3. Assist in loading and unloading shipments of network hardware.
  2. Documentation & Reporting:
    1. Document all hardware movements, inventory updates, deployments, and project-related activities.
    2. Submit daily reports to the Warehouse Coordinator and Network Operations team.
    3. Ensure compliance with client policies for asset management and documentation.
  3. Cross-Team Collaboration:
    1. Collaborate with Network Engineering and IT teams to meet hardware needs and support project timelines.
    2. Provide feedback to optimize warehouse, asset management, and deployment processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or certification in IT, networking, or related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Basic knowledge of network hardware (routers, switches, access points, firewalls).
    • Experience in inventory management or warehouse operations.
    • Familiarity with asset management software or CMDB.
    • Experience with on-site hardware deployment or network project support is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 50 pounds unassisted).
  • Certifications:
    • CompTIA Network+ (required).
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) (required).
    • Forklift certification (preferred).

Work Environment

  • Primary Location: Client's warehouse facility.
  • Travel: Frequent travel for on-site deployments and network project support.
  • Conditions: Warehouse environment with variable temperatures and moderate noise levels.
  • Requires handling and transporting large and heavy network hardware.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (minimum 2 hours).
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to climb ladders or step stools to access high shelves or equipment racks.
  • Comfortable with stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling when organizing hardware.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions (bending, reaching, handling small components).
  • Capable of pushing/pulling carts or pallet jacks loaded with equipment.
  • Manual dexterity for tagging, labeling, and connecting small cables or devices.
  • Safe operation of material handling equipment (e.g., dollies, pallet jacks; forklift certification preferred).

Deliverables

  • Accurate and timely preparation and deployment of network hardware at client sites.
  • Up-to-date inventory records in the client's CMDB.
  • Daily reports on tasks completed, including deployment and project support activities.
  • Proper organization and maintenance of warehouse storage areas.
  • Support for network hardware deployments and project implementation, including troubleshooting assistance.
