Position: Cloud Engineer
Client Location: Madison, WI 53703
Duration: 6+ Months (Strong Possibility of Multi-Year Extension)

Work Arrangement:
- Must be onsite 100% for the first 2 weeks (training and onboarding).
- After initial period: 1 3 days onsite per week, based on project and operational needs.
- Candidate must be a current Wisconsin resident or relocate before the start date.
Role Overview:
The Cloud Engineer will work under the direction of the Deputy IT Director, supporting the Client. This position is responsible for managing, securing, and optimizing both cloud and on-premises infrastructure, including M365, Entra ID, Windows Server, and AWS environments.
The engineer plays a pivotal role in implementing secure, scalable systems that align with the agency s mission, ensuring operational continuity, compliance, and innovation across client multiple sites
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support hybrid infrastructure, including cloud (AWS) and on-premise systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain automation scripts and integration solutions using PowerShell, Python, or equivalent tools.
- Oversee Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Windows Server administration and optimization.
- Support and integrate SaaS platforms and SSO/IAM solutions.
- Administer and monitor AWS services (S3, Glacier, Intelligent Tiering) and ensure cost efficiency.
- Conduct security risk assessments for SaaS/PaaS/IaaS and AI-enabled tools.
- Review vulnerability scans, logs, and SIEM reports to strengthen compliance and security posture.
- Provide documentation, executive-level reports, and technical support for audits and incident response.
- Collaborate with divisions and the Department of Technology for secure, compliant infrastructure solutions.
Required Skills (5+ Years Each):
- System Administration or Cloud Engineering within hybrid environments.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Windows Server, and AWS (S3, Glacier, Intelligent Tiering).
- Hands-on experience automating processes using PowerShell or Python.
- Expertise integrating and supporting enterprise SaaS and SSO/IAM solutions.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Familiarity with AI tools and assessing compliance, privacy, or ethical risks.
- Strong understanding of AWS IAM policies, S3 lifecycle management, and advanced cost reporting.
- Experience supporting IT security reviews, audits, and exception workflows.
- Experience in state government IT environments or multi-agency collaborations.
