Description

SAIC is seeking an Environmental H&S Engineer for our Crane NSWC, IN location.

The Facility, Safety, and Security Coordinator will provide comprehensive support across facility management, safety operations, and security coordination. This vital role requires a proactive individual skilled in inventory management, safety, and security inspections, and regulatory compliance. Enhancing our operational effectiveness, the coordinator will ensure our organization maintains a robust safety and security posture.

Key Responsibilities:

Fire Warden Duties:
  • Perform inspections and examinations to verify building operational safety and compliance.

Inventory Management:
  • Prepare and maintain accurate physical inventory records, including materials, supplies, and documents.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate inventory, initiating corrective actions to reconcile records.
  • Security Program Metrics Analysis:
  • Perform data analysis on the security program metrics to assess the security posture.
  • Provide improvement plans to the Government Activity Security Manager, Information Assurance Manager (IAM), and COR.

Incident Reporting:
  • Submit security incident reports to the COR and other relevant authorities within 24 hours following incident discovery.
  • Report incidents in compliance with CDRL A016 Incident Report (DI-MGMT-82071).
  • Collaborate with the Facility Security Officer or Representative to report potential insider threats.

Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910 (general), 1915 (shipboard/submarine), and 1926 (shore).
  • Develop and maintain a corporate safety plan, making it available for NSWC Crane Safety Office review upon request (CDRL A019).
  • Conduct mandatory safety training for employees before task commencement, including HERO, handling equipment (forklifts, hoists, cranes), and hazardous materials.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelors and two (2) years or more experience, experience accepted in leu of degree.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in facility management, safety, and security coordination.
  • NSWC Crane approved explosives certification or the ability to obtain this certification.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance.
  • Excellent organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Ability to conduct thorough data analysis and compile comprehensive reports.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in a similar role within a government or military environment.
  • Certification in safety management or a related field.
  • Experience acting as a Fire Warden and conducting safety and security inspections.

Additional Requirements:
  • The candidate must be able to work independently to ensure all safety requirements are met, including providing safety equipment and documenting safety procedures as part of the safety plan.
  • Compliance with all mandatory safety training requirements for government facility performance.
