Virtualization Performance Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Virtualization Performance Engineer in Merrimack, NH.

Key Tasks:
* Design and execute performance benchmarking plans for Docker, KVM, and VMware environments
* Conduct memory, disk I/O, and CPU benchmarking using tools like STREAM (Triad, Scale), DBench, aobench, and asmFish
* Analyze system-level performance using tools like stress-ng, phpbench, and Phoronix Test Suite
* Develop automated performance monitoring dashboards using tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or ELK Stack
* Simulate user workloads and thin client interactions to validate scalability and network impact
* Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to validate virtualization configurations
* Document performance baselines, test results, and optimization recommendations
* Stay current with virtualization trends and emerging technologies

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
* Brings 3-5 years of experience in virtualization technologies and performance testing
* Hands-on experience with Docker, KVM/QEMU, and VMware Workstation
* Proficiency in benchmarking tools (e.g., Phoronix Test Suite, STREAM, DBench)
* Experience in desktop app profiling, remote desktop protocols, and network analysis
* Strong analytical skills with experience in interpreting system logs, metrics, and traces
* Familiarity with Linux systems and kernel-level virtualization concepts

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
