We apply problem-solving skills to identify innovative workflow efficiencies, and we implement technology solutions to enhance our systems, products and processes - all while providing platinum customer support to our clients.
Our Team
The ESG Team provides our client with fast and accurate ESG data so that they can stay at the top of their game. Using innovative, collaborative, and client focused approaches to data extraction, aggregation, and standardization using cutting edge technology, the ESG data team is responsible for enhancing ESG content for the Bloomberg Terminal and Enterprise products. This includes company-reported and normalized metrics, industry-specific metrics, proprietary ESG scores, climate and regulatory data. Our ESG data is displayed alongside fundamental data, backed by news for context, and used to power a growing suite of sustainable finance products.
What's the role?
We are looking for a Data Engineer who is eager to learn and develop their skills in data workflows, automation, and Sustainable Finance. In this role, you will support the Environmental and Social Data product by helping build, maintain, and improve data pipelines and processes. You will work alongside ESG domain experts, researchers, and engineers to ensure data accuracy and consistency. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in data engineering while contributing to products that support sustainability and financial markets.

Salary Range = 00 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus
The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.

We'll trust you to:
- Proactively contribute to strategies of analyzing processes and data quality questions to ensure our datasets are fit-for-purpose
- Find opportunities and build automated solutions to scale the growth of our product
- Gather feedback from internal and external workflow users including clients, vendors and global ESG teams, and synthesize this feedback into a meaningful action plan
- Understand the software development lifecycle stages, and identify the right-sized solution for the right phase of a product's development
- Get to know how data moves through a complex system and identify the best ways to constructively and safely expose it to stakeholders
- Leverage technical knowledge of Bloomberg's proprietary or open-source stack to implement effective and innovative solutions
- At least 4 years of experience using Python and/or SQL
- Financial Markets experience, including an understanding of the Sustainable Finance industry
- Familiarity with databases, schemas, and data formats (CSV, JSON, HTML, PDF, etc.)
- Experience developing data quality metrics and reporting as a part of a bigger data architecture framework
- Experience improving and automating workflows and processes
- High attention to detail and interest in data cleaning and data wrangling
- Stakeholder management skills to work across departments and regions, excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when explaining technical processes and solutions to business partners and management
- Ability to work independently as well as in a distributed team environment
We'd love to see:
- Understanding of Data Governance and Data Management principles
- Exposure to the Bloomberg Terminal, Bloomberg API's or Enterprise Data products
- Curiosity about data automation, workflow efficiency, or software development
