Title: Application Development - Java Developer (Web Services, Spring, RESTful) II (Contractor) 
Location: Philadelphia, PA 
Contract: W2 only 
Pay: $50/hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match 

Overview 

Support backend processes for entertainment metadata projects, including the SportsZone project. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining Java-based applications, with a focus on large-scale distributed systems. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design, develop, and implement web-based Java applications to support business requirements following approved lifecycle methodologies. 

  • Create design documents, perform program coding, testing, debugging, and troubleshooting. 

  • Contribute to the development of high-quality software for large-scale Java/Spring Batch/Hadoop distributed systems. 

  • Perform unit and system testing of application code and execute implementation activities. 

  • Analyze business requirements and create technical design documents aligned with architecture standards. 

  • Ensure application performance levels are achieved. 

  • Lead or perform design, coding, testing, implementation, and documentation of complex solutions. 

Required Skills 

  • 4 years of experience in application development. 

  • Proficiency in Java (Java 1.7/Java 1.8), Spring Framework, Jenkins, Gradle, and Github. 

  • Experience with RESTful services, Rabbit MQ, JSON, Unix Scripting, and Hadoop is a plus. 

  • Core development experience in large-scale enterprise Java applications using Spring Framework. 

  • Experience with SQL databases, specifically DB2 and other SQL databases. 

  • Ability to analyze business needs and translate them into technical solutions. 

  • Must have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Skills 

  • Experience with AWS. 

  • Python programming skills. 

  • Familiarity with MongoDB and Oracle databases. 

  • Knowledge of the sports or entertainment industry is a plus.
