This is full onsite role -5 days/week
Must be local in NYC/NJ - final in-person interview
Prior experience at a trading firm, broker-dealer, or investment bank is highly desirable
Our client is seeking a technically hands-on and highly communicative FIX Onboarding and Production Support Specialist to join its global Equities Technology team. This is a hybrid role blending front-office trading support with deep FIX protocol expertise. You will work directly with traders, clients, and technology teams to onboard new FIX connections and troubleshoot production issues related to electronic trading workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support onboarding of internal and external clients to the firm s FIX gateway (FIX 4.2 / 4.4)
- Configure FIX sessions and client-specific routing rules
- Monitor and troubleshoot session-level connectivity, drop copies, and order flows
- Work with trading desks to capture requirements and ensure correct FIX implementation
- Collaborate with OMS/EMS teams and back-office support groups
- Build enhancements to FIX onboarding platforms based on client/business feedback
- Coordinate with software vendors and third-party platforms to ensure end-to-end integration
- Participate in QA, UAT, and release management for new FIX configurations
- Serve as a 3rd-level escalation point for production issues
- Document procedures and assist with internal training for junior support teams
- Support the trade support team in maintaining disaster recovery plans and system monitoring scripts
- Work within agile teams to deliver enhancements and new features
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with FIX protocol in trading environments
- Deep understanding of FIX message structures, workflows, and order routing logic
- Trade lifecycle support across front, middle, and back office
- Familiarity with scripting and development tools: ability to read and debug Bash, Python, and Java
- Strong working knowledge of Linux system administration
- Exposure to configuration management tools and production release processes
- Proven ability to troubleshoot FIX session issues and resolve client onboarding blockers
- Excellent analytical thinking and communication skills
- Able to operate independently in a fast-paced, client-facing role
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field (or 10+ years equivalent professional experience)
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with pre- and post-trade matching tools
- Familiarity with OMS trade support environments (e.g., Fidessa, FlexTrade, Bloomberg EMSX)
- Background in Agile methodology and collaboration across sprint-based teams
- Technical documentation and internal enablement process ownership
- Experience supporting Equities, ETFs, or multi-asset trading platforms
