Sr. Accountant Job Hybrid Remote - for Non-profit Organization

Our client, a well-known and highly respected non-profit organization, is looking to hire an Sr. Accountant (hybrid remote) on a full-time, direct hire basis. In this accounting position you will play the vital role of assisting with the various financial accounting areas including: general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, grants distribution, fixed assets, investments, and monitoring of budget to adhere to the spending plan. Job Duties:
- Provide various general accounting functions.
- Manage the month-end close process.
- Ensure all monthly postings are completed in a timely manner.
- Identify outstanding payables and receivables for accrual purposes.
- Assist with balance sheet and income statement reconciliation.
- Oversee accounts receivable and point of sales system, including daily bank receipts for donations/foundations/grants, and daily retail sales reporting.
- Review accounts receivable transactions to ensure transactions are properly posted and accounts are current.
- Assist with income statement accounts reconciliation, analyzing variances, initiating corrective action.
- Play an integral role in year-end close, audit preparation and annual preparation of tax form 990, plus annual report.
- Perform monthly balance sheet accounts for banks and investments and reviews other monthly balance sheet accounts prepared by accounting supervisor.
- Assist the Director of Finance in compiling budget details and preparing annual budgets for board approval.
- Record and post investment activities.
- Monitor government and foundation grant funding.
- Assist with ad hoc projects or related duties as determined by Director of Finance.
- Process contributions and match with bank transactions and perform monthly bank account reconciliations.
Requirements:
- Recent experience with general ledger, account analysis and accounts payable/accounts receivable activities.
- Balance sheet and income statement reconciliation experience.
- Bank reconciliation experience.
- Working knowledge of GAAP.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Bachelor s degree in finance or accounting or related field.
- Non-profit experience is a plus, but not a must.
