Job Description:

This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located at customer's site.

Our National Security Team supports the intelligence community by providing, operating and assuring critical voice, video and collaboration services for the full spectrum of operations.

AT&T has an opening to support the Intelligence Sector for a System Administrator to provide comprehensive support to all aspects of system maintenance, from daily troubleshooting needs to the verification of system performance

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Systems Administration & Operations
  • Administer and troubleshoot Linux and Windows servers in AWS GovCloud and manage on-prem HP thin clients, including maintaining gold images and deploying updates.
  • Administer VMware infrastructure (vCenter/vSphere/ESXi), including provisioning, configuration, performance monitoring, and lifecycle management of virtual machines.
  • Perform patching, OS updates, and configuration reviews using Ansible Automation Platform; apply DISA STIGs and other hardening standards to maintain compliance.
  • Monitor system performance, resource utilization, and capacity to ensure availability and support lifecycle planning.

Identity & Access Management
  • Manage Active Directory forests, domains, and OUs, including users, groups, and hardware objects (thin clients, servers, VMs), Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and access controls.
  • Perform account provisioning, deprovisioning, and periodic access reviews in accordance with ICAM standards.
  • Administer enterprise ICAM and PKI/PKE services, including certificate issuance, renewal, and authentication integration.

Backup, Security, and Compliance
  • Manage backup and recovery solutions in line with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) requirements.
  • Support Asset Management by automating the reporting of assets, ensuring accurate system inventories for audits, compliance, and lifecycle management.
  • Support security audits and vulnerability assessments by providing system data, implementing remediation actions, and maintaining audit-ready configurations.
  • Execute system changes and upgrades in accordance with program change and configuration management processes.

Support & Collaboration
  • Provide Tier 2 incident response by troubleshooting escalated issues, restoring service, and escalating to Tier 3 as needed.
  • Directly assist end users and mission partners with escalated system issues requiring administrative intervention.
  • Collaborate with cloud, security, and network engineers to support enterprise services while maintaining clear system administration scope.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation, including SOPs, baseline configurations, and technical knowledge articles.

Required Clearance:

TS/SCI with poly (#tssci) (#polygraph)

Required Qualifications:

Candidate must have 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 3 years, master's and 4 years, bachelor's and 6 years, associates and 8 years or HS diploma and 10 years. Additional required qualifications include: Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8140 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
  • + a minimum of 6 years' Systems Administration experience
  • Maintain DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II or III certification
  • Must be able to support on-call, after hours, and weekend support

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience working in DoD or Intelligence Community (IC) environments, with an understanding of audit and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with change and configuration management processes (e.g., ITIL, CAB).
  • Experience supporting asset management automation for accurate system reporting and compliance tracking.
  • Vendor certifications such as:
    • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
    • RedHat Certified System Administrator/Engineer (RHCSA/RHCE)
    • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Administration/Engineer
  • Experience with zero-trust security models and integrating system administration tasks into enterprise cybersecurity frameworks.
  • Familiarity with enterprise backup solutions, particularly Commvault, in large-scale mission environments.
  • Exposure to hybrid cloud automation (e.g., Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines) for system deployment and maintenance.

Our Systems Administrator II's earn between $89,200 - $160,000. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
