We are seeking a Senior IT Project Manager / Portfolio Manager with strong experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences domain. This role is responsible for leading cross-functional, enterprise-level initiatives, driving demand intake, managing risks, and ensuring strategic alignment between IT and business priorities. The ideal candidate excels in high-visibility environments and can operate with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities across a portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide senior management and IT leadership with an integrated view of individual projects and companywide initiatives.
Assess and consult on project progress, risks, and interdependencies to ensure alignment with business strategies and systems priorities.
Lead the demand intake process, ensuring submitted business cases meet established thresholds before involving engineering or business analysis teams.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business leaders to solve complex business problems and identify enabling technologies.
Define business processes, project scope, objectives, and support development of business case justifications.
Partner with IT senior leadership and business units to assess the cost, impact, and feasibility of recommended changes.
Coordinate across functions to prioritize initiatives and ensure alignment of shared resources.
Operate independently with minimal oversight; take full accountability for delivery excellence and financial health of the portfolio.
Lead and facilitate Change Control Boards (CCB) to assess and manage the impact of scope changes across multiple domains.
Ensure adherence to all corporate, divisional, and regulatory standards (e.g., Code of Conduct, Safety, GxP, Data Security, SDLC).
Track and ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks and projects under direct and matrix reporting structures.
Self-driven and proactive in task execution and issue resolution, with minimal need for supervision.
Ensure all project meetings are well-documented with minutes, action items, and follow-ups tracked to closure.
Conduct regular status meetings with peer PMs, stakeholders, and business leads, tailoring communications to each audience.
Foster smooth communication among IT teams, stakeholders, and business units throughout planning and execution phases.
Proactively assess, document, and escalate risks, while driving mitigation plans to minimize overall impact.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
10+ years of experience in IT project/program/portfolio management, preferably in the pharmaceutical or regulated life sciences sector.
Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and large-scale, enterprise-level initiatives.
Strong understanding of GxP compliance, data security, and SDLC methodologies.
Experience leading change management and demand intake processes.
Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities.
Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, etc.).
PMP, PMI-ACP, or SAFe certifications are a plus.
