MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associates degree. Five years of experience in the repair, troubleshooting, testing, installation and maintenance of voice, data, and wireless communication equipment is required. A high school diploma or GED along with addiitonal experience in the repair, troubleshooting, testing, installation and maintenance of voice, data, and wireless communication equipment may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Must possess a valid driver license.

RECRUITMENT NOTES

Miami-Dade County Communciations, Information & Technology Department (CITD) is recruiting a full-time IT Senior Telecommunications Technician that will be assigned to the Fixed Systems Workgroup of the Radio Communication Services Division. This is an advanced skilled technical position responsible for the installation, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of complex radio system infrastructure equipment with a multi-site telecommunciations operation. Employees in this class perform work involving the installation, maintenance, and repair of complex audio and microwave transmission systems; digital and analog fixed radio communication instrastructure equipment; portable and mobile radio systems; OC3 and IP microwave transport systems and equipment, and dispatch consoles. Duties include diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues, identiying faulty circuitry, and maintaining transmission and distribution lines. Job components include the installation, maintenance, and repair of telecommunications equiment down to the component level, as well as performing preventive maintenance.

This position entails working with IP network systems, which deals with network architecture design, configuration, and troubleshooting. This includes network security, route and switching, and microwave transport, technologies that support IP-based communications. This role involves working with fundamental and advanced principles, techniques, and practices of electronic network engineering. This position will exercise independent judgment and technical acumen to ensure timely and effective responses to critical telecommunications and network infrastructure requirements.
