Job Description
1. Time & Labor Integration
Knowledge of time collection methods (web clock, time devices, timesheet entry) and how those records integrate with Payroll and Absence modules.
Designing and managing inbound/outbound integrations with external timekeeping systems (Kronos, ADP, Workbrain, etc.) using HCM Extracts, REST/SOAP APIs, or Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC).
Handling validations for time card exceptions, OT rules, shift differentials.
Understanding of integration impacts on downstream payroll processing.
2. Absence Management
Configuring absence plans, accruals, and entitlement rules, plus integration touchpoints with Payroll and Time & Labor.
Experience with delivering absence data to third-party benefits or payroll systems.
Leveraging REST APIs or HCM Extracts to automate balance updates or sync external leave requests.
Knowledge of how absence balances are recalculated during retro events.
3. HCM Data Loader (HDL / HSDL)
Hands-on experience preparing HDL dat files for bulk employee loads, job changes, salary updates, and correcting errors.
Using HSDL for business-user-friendly data loading and understanding when to use HDL vs HSDL.
Debugging HDL errors (diagnosing Worker.dat errors, parent-child record dependencies).
Automating HDL loads with scripts or integrating with middleware tools like OIC.
4. Testing & Releases
Building end-to-end test scenarios for integrations (time card payroll GL).
Regression testing after quarterly Oracle releases, focusing on API/extract schema changes.
Validating custom OTBI/BIP reports and integrations after patches.
Use of tools like Selenium, OATS, or Postman for testing APIs and integration endpoints.
Experience coordinating UAT with HR/payroll teams and ensuring sign-offs.
5. Third-Party Integrations
Experience mapping HCM data with benefit providers, payroll vendors, and identity management systems.
Design patterns: flat-file extracts via SFTP, REST/SOAP APIs, OIC orchestrations.
Error handling and logging strategy for automated integrations.
Ensuring compliance with data privacy/security in third-party transfers (encryption, masking).
Real-world example: integrating Oracle HCM with ADP payroll or Workday Financials.
