Job Purpose and Summary
This is a highly technical position responsible for the architecture and design of complex open systems computing environments. Work involves performing system architecture analysis, capacity planning, and overseeing changes/implementations in the open systems environment. This position also requires the individual to perform cost analysis, system planning, implementation and administration. Position requires critical thinking and the ability to troubleshoot various and diverse issues in the infrastructure arena.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain operational stability while enforcing security controls. Extensive familiarity with OS vulnerability remediation and patch management.
Provide expert knowledge in the architecture, design, availability, backup, layout, and configuration of virtualized Intel and Linux environments, Hypervisors, and storage platforms.
Provide expert-level support of Microsoft's Window Server Operating Systems, Active Directory, Group Policy Administration, and other Intel-based software.
Provide and support a detailed Disaster Recovery Plan and its execution for business continuity recovery and testing.
Responsible for managing hardware life cycles and evaluating new products.
Develop migration plans for major system upgrades.
Create system images used to build new virtualized servers in accordance with DOD STIG standards.
Ability to analyze performance statistics for the purposes of tuning, problem determination, and/or capacity planning.
Serve as key technical resource providing advice, training, and technical support for various projects and daily operations.
