Position: Senior Microsoft Business Central Manufacturing Consultant Location: Grand Prairie, TX - (Hybrid Onsite) Duration: Long Term Contract
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Process Optimization & System Configuration:
Conduct an in-depth review and assessment of currently configured routings and machine centers to identify existing gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for significant improvement.
Lead the meticulous setup and configuration of new machines and routings within Business Central, adhering to best practices.
Ensure the comprehensive and accurate capture of all manufacturing transactions within the system, including:
Precise product usage and consumption.
Accurate employee clock punches and labor tracking via Insight Works/Shop Floor.
Detailed machine utilization per project/production order.
Facilitate the effective incorporation of built sheets and detailed bill of materials (BOMs).
Optimize and refine the graphical scheduler to enhance production planning visibility and control.
Configure and manage robust processes for sub-contractor integration and management.
Implement and fine-tune planning worksheets for optimal material and capacity planning.
Assist in establishing and optimizing demand forecasting methodologies within Business Central.
Leverage historical production and financial information for insightful analysis and continuous process improvement.
Reporting, Analytics & Financial Integration:
Design and develop robust reporting mechanisms to enable clear, real-time comparisons of estimated vs. actual costs for each finished production order.
Ensure seamless data export capabilities to Excel for advanced analysis using pivot tables, delivering desired production order statistics and key performance indicators.
Collaborate with finance teams to ensure accurate cost accounting, inventory valuation, and supply chain module integration for comprehensive financial insights.
System Integration & User Adoption:
Lead the integration and optimization efforts between Microsoft Business Central and critical third-party tools, with a specific focus on Insight Works/Shop Floor for employee time management.
Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), user guides, and conduct effective training sessions to foster user adoption, reduce support tickets, and ensure sustained operational improvements.
Partner with cross-functional teams (finance, supply chain, data) to resolve discrepancies, reconcile accounts, and optimize inventory forecasting.
Project Leadership & Onsite Collaboration:
Drive successful project outcomes, achieving measurable ROI and operational improvements for the client.
Minimize scope creep through clear documentation and proactive stakeholder alignment.
Act as a local resource, working collaboratively with the client's team on a hybrid basis, requiring periodic in-person presence at their office for effective engagement, problem-solving, and knowledge transfer.
Required Skills & Experience:
10+ years of extensive experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV / D365 Business Central, specializing in implementation, development, and leadership roles within manufacturing and distribution ERP environments.
Proven expertise in Business Central Manufacturing modules, including advanced understanding of routings, machine centers, production orders, planning, and cost accounting.
Direct, hands-on experience integrating and optimizing Insight Works/Shop Floor for employee time management and shop floor data collection is highly preferred.
Strong background in leading full lifecycle D365 Business Central implementations with a focus on delivering measurable operational improvements.
Deep analytical capabilities with the ability to review complex system setups, diagnose issues, and propose highly effective and efficient solutions.
Proficiency in designing and implementing robust reporting solutions for manufacturing performance analysis (estimate vs. actual, production statistics).
Experience with financial modules (GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Budgeting) within Business Central.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with a proven ability to manage client expectations and foster cross-functional collaboration.
Familiarity with process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or similar) is a plus.
Technical aptitude with tools and languages such as AL, SQL, and Power BI for advanced configuration and reporting.
Ability to commit to a hybrid work model, including periodic in-person visits to the client's office as required for effective collaboration and project success.
