Program Manager, AWS Outposts Migration
Summary
The Program Manager, AWS Outposts Migration, will lead the end-to-end planning and execution of a large-scale program to migrate and modernize applications onto AWS Outposts and other AWS cloud services. This role involves defining program strategy, managing technical and business-related dependencies, and driving alignment across a federated IT organization and multiple business units.
Key responsibilities
- Program leadership: Define and drive the overall program strategy, roadmap, and delivery timelines for AWS Outposts and hybrid cloud migrations.
- Stakeholder management: Serve as the primary liaison between internal business stakeholders, engineering teams, and the AWS Professional Services team. Ensure executive buy-in and clear communication throughout the program life cycle.
- Migration planning: Oversee discovery, assessment, and wave planning activities to identify and prioritize on-premises applications for migration or modernization on Outposts.
- Dependency management: Proactively identify, track, and manage all cross-functional dependencies and risks related to the migration program. Develop and execute mitigation plans.
- Vendor and resource management: Coordinate with third-party vendors and manage internal and external resources to ensure all project milestones and technical prerequisites are met.
- Compliance and governance: Work with the migration governance team to ensure all processes and deliverables adhere to security, compliance, and regulatory standards.
- Technical oversight: Facilitate discussions and decision-making on migration architectures, tools, and best practices. Collaborate with cloud architects and engineers to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, and reliable.
- Process improvement: Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, project documentation, and post-migration reviews to drive continuous improvement.
Required qualifications
A candidate should have at least 10 years of experience as a Technical Program Manager or in a similar role managing complex technical programs related to IT infrastructure or cloud solutions, with a proven history in large-scale migration projects, preferably to AWS. An in-depth understanding of AWS cloud services, architecture, and migration methodologies is required, along with experience with hybrid cloud architectures, on-premises infrastructure, and technologies relevant to AWS Outposts. The role demands exceptional communication, leadership, and influencing skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences. Experience in a federated IT environment and strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are also necessary.
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, is expected.
Preferred qualifications
Preferred qualifications include AWS certifications, project management certifications (such as PMP or SAFe), experience with Agile and Scrum methodologies, and experience with automation deployment and management.
